It looks like I would have to make a new requirement for every ability to do what the terran upgrades do because the current requirement affects the ability and not the upgrade. Is there any other way?
You will have to make a requirement for every upgrade. Thats how it works.
Do like they do with the terrain upgrades (which hides it when it's either researching or better)

I recently made a ton of upgrades, however none of them disappear after you buy them. How do you make them disappear?
