This may be a dumb question, but I can't seem to get it to work.
I am trying to create a healing effect similar to the Special Forces healing that is on the command center. So that when you get within 8 range of the command center, you get a buff that will regenerate your life/shields by 15, and you can also see the range indicator (the dotted triangles that show range) at all times showing you the range of the healing effect. However I don't want a heal beam going from the command center to the unit.
Actually there are several ways. Apply a buff to the unit that ups life regen, use a buff that uses a periodic Create Healer or Modify Unit effect, direct application of the two already mentioned or if the unit has life regen upping the timescale. For the range indicator look at how tosh can see detectors (Range type actor).

For the healing effect, you'll want a buff with a periodic search effect which uses a "modify unit" effect to heal all units that it finds.
For the range indicator, take a look at the sensor tower. You'll want to create a similar actor to the range actor attached to that unit.
