First post here and was looking for some help with a map I'm currently making.
I wanted to know if it's possible to edit the attack ability so it:
Costs resources to use.
Only attacks once, rather than continually.
Have it define if it's for weapon1 or weapon2 of the unit (I want to end up with (2) attack buttons on units with two weapons).
I'm slowly, slowly (as in only tonight started) learning to edit in xml and am guessing this is the way to go?
Alternatively, would it be better to make another ability, and somehow set the damage and range of the ability to that of the weapon of the unit using the ability (if this is even possible).
Sounds more like a weapon and Effect - Target ability issue than the attack ability. Want it to drain resources per shot or continually while using attack like the attack move?
Just have the weapons use a Modify Unit effect to drain resources on shot or use a buff that periodically uses one when the attack ability is queued.
Just have the weapon apply a buff that disables the weapon and the ability removes it on use.
Make the first effect of the weapon effect tree require a buff that the ability for each weapon adds and have the weapon remove it on shot.

XML is a preference not a requirement
