Lets help out the poor High Templars, give them a weapon to defend themselves with, (other than psi storm). I will leave this one open, see what you can do with it! Just come up with a different looking ability that could be used in actual ladder gameplay
Well. I have no idea what I did wrong. :( I scaled the Psionic Storm to make a look big and awesome. Then I tried to tint it's color but that seemed to have failed hard. I hadn't planned on recreating a whole ability but just modifying it so it looks cool. I don't know how to create new abilities, I wish I could though! heh.
Psionic Surge: Fires 5 bolts of psionic energy. The first one always hits the intended attack target, but the others prefer targeting other units. If there are less than 5 enemies in range the bolts will spread evenly across the available targets. The bolts also prefer targets with energy.
I also included a custom upgrade, "Psionic Siphon", which makes each shot burn 5 energy of the target (without dealing additional damage)
I made the weapon always prefer targets with high energy, but you can try making it only do so once the upgrade is researched.
The weapon uses the unused Mothership Missile models and sounds.
Psionic Wave. In hindsight, maybe should have called it Psionic Beam or something, but whatever. Originally I wanted this to be a TRUE cone shaped spell, starting with 1 offset placed 1 unit away, right infront of the high templar and extending out to 9 distance, with 2offset/distance at the second wave, 3offset/distance at the 3rd, etc. But I ran out of Persistent Offsets.... 32 maximum! Pathetic limitation, in a game that can have trillions of things going on... Ah well. I settled for a 3 pronged wave.
So ya... aczchef was sorta right. My original entry worked, but didn't seem to fit the High Templar really. So I went and made them a new weapon, and this one I think fits real well.
Perhaps! I'll take a look. But I won't upload a new vid, just map if it works.
EDIT: Re-uploaded the map in this post. Tinted white, also tinted the impact effect, and changed the impact's opacity. Also realised the Search on the Damage would hit anything, so modified the Search Targets or whatever, and also allowed the weapon to target air units. Little bits of Psionic Wave artifacts, haha.

Why don't you just have one persistent effect chain into a new persistent effect to continue the offsets?

I thought of that but I decided to modify the offsets into a tighter grid, eliminating enough of them so that it's not so bad.

Of course I don't mind, otherwise I wouldn't have posted it here. The design itself is mostly based on the alpha stage Mothership weapon anyway.

finished mine doing some touch ups but i have almost never used missiles how can i get the missile off the ground
