Tug of War
Im new to map making and this is my first map that i ever uploaded, so please leave feedback
- Meant for 1v1 Multiplayer, however i attempted at some sort of computer opponent that will have units but not build anything.(I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me if the computer interferes in anyway with 2 actual players)
- Build buildings with your SCV. For each Buidling you build another pair of units will spawn every 15 second which will automatically attack your opponent.(only the Barracks Factory and Starport cause more units to spawn)
- You only have control of your SCV, and all of your buildings, Units that spawn will be controlled by the computer
- Can upgrade each units damage, health, and armor
- You have an income that starts out at 5 minerals every 15 seconds, and you can build supply depots that increase it by 5 for each, and those can further be upgraded to add an additional 6 minerals per 15 seconds
-Planned for the Future
- Hero units that you get to control
- Unique upgrades for each unit
- More unit variety
Please Report any bugs typos etc.
I know its been a while since this has been posted but eh.
Nice interesting map. I've played this map several times (mostly out of boredom). A few points of interest:
Is it intended that you are able to build turrets in the enemy base? Once fully upgraded, a few turrets in the enemy base took down everything. about 20 or so killed the waves fast enough to take out the hq
The tank seems rather..better then the other two elite units
when I upgraded the tank to have an aa weapon, instead of adding the weapon, it removed all weapons from the tank.
After a longish match, there can be so many units on the screen that the game starts to lag out. It seems that based on the exponential grown in unit count throughout the game, it may be best to cap the number of units you can have on the field. Maybe stop spawning marines if you have, say, 10x barracks marines on the field. Or maybe only spawn half if you are above the limit. Some kind of count control.
To add to the above, due to pathing, once you get a line of fire set up, all the ground units will just fall in behind and clog up. I don't know an easy solution for this.
You may want to destroy the buildings when you build the elite unit, rather than when it completes, when i had enough to build a banshee i clicked it twice, and when the second one finished it only killed what i had left of starports which was like 2 at the time, not sure if you knew about that little bug or not, but otherwise great execution of the engine! Thanks for the hard work!
Shane
Really like the addition of the elite units, can't wait to see what you add next ^_^
[Bug] Hellions will sometimes stop just of side of range and not attack vs marines.
i may have misseed something being unable to read the tooltips, but found the game very fun alhough very easy mass upgrades imo just wins.
What i would like to see however is a setting for difficulty easy, normal and hard woul be fine although quite hard to impliment i'd think.
The other thing i would like to see is some sort of Tech, something big and scary battlecruisers carriers or ultralisks would be very strong for this kind of map, getting 5 minutes into the game and have maxed Tech advancement is a little boring more varity is cool.
Something else you could try is have race selection instead of just Terran, would love to see mass Zerglings :).
Edit: After playing it again using supply depots for income the game becomes super easy... get about 10-12 of them fully upgraded and then get 10 starports and tech, I WIN button :). This is really easy to do because of the base defense at the start.
Game's pretty entertaining right now. Units not having collision with each other brings an interesting dynamic since there is not a max number of units than can be firing it makes getting a lot more production facilities viable.
Ty for the comments
@WontonST, can u explain the "saver" thing i dont get what u meant by that and what it would do
I feel like the amount of minerals added per unit killed is way too high, leading to the exponentially increasing number of units people build. It also makes building more income completely moot. Overall, great game though!
I suggest that you make everything stronger so its harder to mass them as much as i did... or figure out a different way to make it so it doesnt lag after awhile
Hah, that was highly entertaining.
I was totally like "Fuck yes I'm winning" then I was like "shiiit that's a shitload of vikings, fuck they're at my door" then "fucking yes my fort survived, time to rape"
Yeah, very nice rendition of the Tug of War. However, it got uber uber laggy since I massed marines. Marines don't stack, so they all ran in circles behind the front line, causing lag.
Implement a "saver" thing to nuke the map. Some vikings sat around and did nothing. Maybe too many units cause this? Or maybe the radius for moving trigger wasn't large enough.
fun but way to frigging hard- the cpu started with 50+ minrals more of forces and raped me. 4 hellions, 6 marines- the most I get is 4 hellions or 8 marrines. got overrun in very little time.
I liked it! :D A good twist from the old tug of war :) but I sort of miss the old way of tug of war :(
