Special thanks to SCMapper.ebret and Qancakes.
Also, the queen keeps restoring its health once i step too far from the battle ground
Awesome game! exept, as you know, the spine crawlers kind of get you killed
The first playable, fun, and good third person hackslash for starcraft 2.
Some terrain issues, but who cares? Just shows the awseomness of starcraft 2.
The spine crawler's attack stops you for a second. I haven't fixed the animation completion yet, so it doesn't look like they are attacking you.
Still working on that, the data editor doesn't like me.
why do i stop all the time with the boss? no its not the fungal growth...
I just get stuck and die becuase of banlings
I think the cursor idea is a good one, there really is no reason for the cursor in this map, so I think I will disable it.
Thanks for pointing out the healing problem. Since I reworked the unit bars I forgot to change the way the healing skill works.
Thanks for the input!
I played the original last week, and I do like these newer controls a lot more than what I remember from the first version. I remember having some trouble with the camera, and I didn't have any of that this time. I also like how the 's' key did work exactly as I thought it should; I didn't even notice I was using that key until after a while, and I remembered that you wrote that it was disabled (I suppose you've fixed it?).
My only suggestion control-wise is to make the cursor go away entirely; there's no need for it. I was constantly holding down the right-mouse button, and when I did let go of that button and attack, I would occasionally get a "You can't control that unit" message because I would click on the enemy, which is weird.
I also have yet to beat the boss. It was a lot easier the second time, with the improved controls, but I still couldn't beat it: I would always get captured by some green thing (is there a way to avoid that?). I might have beat it if the healing actually worked, but every time I tried to heal, it would say that I was at full health, even though I was actually very low on health (this would happen regardless of whether or not I had shields). One last thing: You should make escape or something bring back the main menu. I had to exit the game by pressing alt-f4.
Please post any feedback on the new movement system!
Good Work so far, very fun map, would love to see it finished :)
Hey, I quite liked this map. :)
Though I have to say the camera seemed a bit choppy and the lack of being able to back by using 'S' was pretty annoying since I often accidentally ran into some corner (Yes, I suck :p).
Also, it could be me being a slow reader but I never managed to read everything that Tsarik said to me. :( I don't know if that's what caused my difficulties with the Queen but I never managed to kill her.
Oh, and a few pathing blockers would be nice so you can't run up on those steep hills.
But overall it was a good map! Keep up the good work.
P.S. Sorry I can't help you with the spine crawler issue. The Data editor hates me and the feeling is pretty mutual. I can't seem to get anything done in it.
Edit: sorry I just see that you actually have pathing blockers in the map - I guess I just happened to come across a tiny slope that looked way larger than it actually was. :P
If anyone has a few minutes...
I'm having issues getting the spine crawler animation to finish. I added the concussive grenade slow effect to them after lots of trial and error, but the missile animation effect is gone. Everything works but that. Up until now I've fixed any problems I've had with enough trial and error, but this one is really wracking my brain. If anyone has the time and know-how to take a look I would really appreciate it.
I thought it was quite good, the only odd thing I found was how the camera moved around. Personally it seemed too quick for my tastes, but it was not such a big deal. Otherwise, great work, especially with the editor being incomplete, or at least that's what I hear. In any case, keep on truckin!
I think the strafe idea is a good one. I still haven't figured out how to implement that, or the "S" key making the unit go backwards. But I am still working on it.
Thanks for the suggestions, much appreciated!
Very nice. Some suggestions:
