Description
In the grim darkness of the far future, commanders all over the Koprulu Sector find themselves at the mercy of a slotmachine - their unit rosters, mutators as well as the enemies they are up against chosen for them by this uncaring automaton.
You are one of them. Yay!
Check out Jayborino's playthrough of the first iteration of the map that would go on to win 2020's Maporino event:
How to get it to work
Download the zip folder containing the mod files (or alternatively the one containing both the maps and the mods), unpack it and put its contents (ReelCraftData+Triggers.SC2Mod and ReelCraftAchievements.SC2Mod) into your mods folder. All you need to do now is download a map, unpack it and open it up. Just make sure your map is in a folder named ReelCraft inside your maps folder. Once the editor has started, click the green button in the top right that says "Test Document". Like stealing candy from a baby.
How to play
- Pick a hero, an equipment item and a difficulty
- Set up defenses and collect resource pickups to prepare for the first wave
- Pay attention to the stuff you roll, mouse over each of the slots for detailed info
- It may be beneficial to spend skill points based on the enemy comp you find yourself up against
- Prioritizing economy over unit production early on pays off - use your hero and the reinforcements to fend off the first wave
- Taking the expansions is only required on the higher difficulties and may do more harm than good if you're not careful
- You can use items to compensate for a hero's weakness e.g. by equipping Blaze with the Psi Projector or Nova with the Ionic Force Field
- Remember to research your upgrades - they can make your units significantly more powerful
Feedback is always welcome, so feel free to leave a comment and share your thoughts on this here reelish craft or join our Discord.
If you enjoyed yourself, consider leaving a positive review for the arcade version of the mod.
我用星际争霸2编辑器打开地图时,编辑器会问我:
“要访问依赖项'暴雪游戏:Commander Mengsk(最新)',你要登录到暴雪游戏。继续吗?”
I say yes.
Amazing map! I would like to help with russian translation if you can implement it in official versions
hi, i'm playing the Arcade version atm. I'm enjoying it! Are there any differences between the Arcade version and this?
Also, I have some suggestions:
1. Version number in the main menu
2. Allow custom difficulty settings, like changing the AI settings, build time, time between waves, wave sizes, etc. all separately, instead of only allowing the presets which bundle a bunch of settings together.
And a question: When will Zerg and Protoss be available to play? (My favourite race is Zerg.)
In reply to Gwyndolin_chan:
Thank you for your kind words! I'll get working on the version number immediately. :-D
As for differences between the mapster and arcade versions: For all intents and purposes, they are identical. There's a little boolean that I flip from true to false depending on where I upload, because map loading is handled differently for local map files and arcade maps, but other than that, they're identical. It is worth noting that the game will create a seperate databank for each, though, so your achievements don't carry over.
The custom difficulty is a pretty cool concept, gonna have to dedicate an entire patch to implementing something that big, though.
And last but not least: Protoss is currently in the works and will be playable soon™.
In reply to BummKnallPeng:
Very cool! Looking forward to your new releases :)
Since the last update the game just freezes to both me and my friend... no error.. nothing.., after a couple of minutes playing just freeze.
In reply to Silesti:
I have been working to identify the cause of the instability of the mod the past couple months, and I was actually able to pinpoint which script it is that causes the freezing issues you have encountered.
It is sadly one that's quite integral to the AI, so I can't just rip it out and replace it. But I am confident that I'll manage to rewrite it in such a way that no more infinite recursion will occur.
I'm very sorry, and I will get back to you once the new patch with the fix is out!
In reply to Silesti:
New patch out and bug fixed! Sorry again for the inconvenience. :-(
Great work!
I got a question: on endless, I run into the issue where it gets stuck on level 21. Is that normal? I assume it is because after Brutal, it does not have anything to level up to. Suggestions?
In reply to calisEV:
Thanks! Cool to hear you enjoy it.
As for the Endless Mode thing: That is definitely not the reason. Are you playing on 3.0 or 3.2? There were some big issues with Endless Mode in 3.0-3.1 that got ironed out with the 3.2 patch. I'm still getting some reports of Endless Mode breaking or getting stuck but was so far unsuccessful in replicating them.
In reply to BummKnallPeng:
Hey mate -
Thank you for following up. I am getting in the 3.2 on all three maps.
Any way I can help gather logs/screens to help with troubleshooting?
In reply to calisEV:
That's a very kind offer! I'm gonna be opening up the ReelCraft Discord to the public once the new update goes live in the next couple weeks. Feel free to drop by!
In reply to calisEV:
You can now join the Discord if you still wanna help out. :-D
Files here are 1.1 but Arcade version is 1.2,
It says that offline version has more functionality, so will this file section be updated with 1.2?
In reply to zerobyte13:
The arcade version tends to get more smaller patches as it's a lot faster and more convenient to update. This was one of the few instances where the changes were significant enough to warrant a new version number and a changelog for the arcade version but not significant enough to justify an update of the sc2 mapster version.
The process of uploading a new version to sc2mapster takes around a day, so I only upload bigger, well tested updates to this site (as uploading hotfixes isn't technically possible without completely missing the point of a hotfix).
In short: When the next bigboy update's coming (soon™), the version number is going to go straight to 1.3.
In reply to BummKnallPeng:
Ah, ok! Thanks for clarification!
