- Act I Level 1-25 content
The Protoss and the Tal'darim were fighting above restored Haven. Shortly after the Terran colonists sent up a battlecruiser from the surface, a sub-space Vortex opens up above the planet, engulfing several vessels. Trapped and stranded 85 years in the past, our heroes grow tired of waiting for reinforcements
The Tal'Darim have set up fortifications, while they gather enough materials to launch an assault on Aiur (and through their madness, destabilize time itself!)
- Act II Level 23-50 content
After nearly defeating the Destroyer, our heroes head South in pursuit. Chal'marr and his band of Templars have taken over a nearby Tal'darim outpost. This outpost will serve as a temporary sanctuary for Chal'marr's survivors while they investigate the Tal'darims recent expansion into the region.
- Act III Level 45-80 content.
Near the end of Act 2, one of the Destroyers Dark Archons had mysteriously appeared and stole a powerful crystal artifact that the Destroyer was excavating. The Destroyer was enraged. The Tal'darim Archon opened a time rift and escaped to the present.
With the timelines restored, our heroes return through the temporal vortex, but they pick up a Tal'darim warp trail that leads straight to Korhal! Chal'marr's survivors (on General Larrens Battlecruiser) follow the warp trail to an experimental research facility on Korhal, which is still mostly in ruins after the last Zerg attack.. The Ta'darim Archon (known as Nezzax the Consuming) is harnessing the powers of the crystal to amplify his ability to control human minds!
Dude, you rock!
Thanks for the info. Have you noticed that when you drop a duplicate or lesser armor your value decreases? I had to re-equip helm/shoulder/chest armor whenever I dropped any armor to clear inventory.
Just got the Savage armor at the end of Act I. I introduced your map to 3 others tonight and we had a blast.
there are different armor caps for different encounters, for an average act I boss, 22 armor will reduce roughly 40% damage. Visit http://www.sc2mapster.com/maps/shadows-taldarim/forum/20720-gear-mercenary-compendium/#p1 for a basic list of items to find out which items stack with eachother
How are armor values calculated? Sometimes the gear increase value by only 1. Then sometimes it also increases with duplicate armor.
@Sharicasmi
I just started act II. Awesome work :)
What I was suggesting with the quest log was something like in Act II. You have the objectives listed on the top left. I'm not sure how much time it would take to implement in Act I but it would make the experience much better for the novice.
I finally got Act I down thanks to the info. Woot!
Shadows of the Tal'Darim Hero Arena is nearing Alpha stage, I may have an open beta sometime next week. Players will be given the opportunity to level their hero 1-80 in a 3v3 PVP environment (similar to Battleground Levelling in WOW.)
Players must set up their own teams through the lobby, and you only gain experience from teams 3 levels below you or higher. Features a Aos/sotis mode, a Capture the Flag mode, a Domination mode, and a Deathmatch mode, most of which only take 10-15 minutes
@Sting187 After being sent east. you deal with the Zerg Queen in the south part of the eastern wastes, Help a Zealot prisoner get this teleporter working, help a Dark Templar purge that temple to the north. If you've defeated the Queen, and helped the Zealot prisoner get his teleporter working,
I don't want there to be too many UI buttons but I'll look into some sort of quest tracking system or quest log.
Is there any way to make a quest log or objectives list? A friend and I played for hours last night and it was confusing where to go in Act I once you headed east.
For example after the high templar... where are we supposed to go? There were two areas north and south that I couldn't figure out how to access.
Ok yeah i see why that ramp wouldnt be accessible, i just recently changed the walls nearby and one of them still had collision properties. Fixed.
Your second key to act II should go away when you zone in to act II.
I received two act II keys at the end of act I.
Also in Act I, the ramp leading to the Stone Zealot is not accessible. Luckily I had the blink skill.
thanks, I'll look into it. and btw the 1-6 hotkeys usually only work if you're targeting something. It's a part of a custom targetting system where you left click your target and hit a 1-6 hotkey to instantly execute that spell against your target. There are 3 ways to select a target. Attacking it, left clicking on it (as if you were to select it), or just press tab when you're nearby. Pressing tab repeatedly will cycle through random nearby targets.
I just got on this map last night. Great work Sharicasmi!
I'm not sure if this is a bug but the Roach ability (hotkey F or 1) doesn't work when you press 1.
yea its NA, supports up to 5 players. Content difficulty scales with amount of players present, so for each player present, it adds 100% health 15% +damage to the creatures you're fighting.
mobs will also typically drop more loot if there are more players present
How many players is this? And is it published in NA?
Next release in a few days, but i want to deal with as many bugs as I can before I implement the VERY COOL new features. Amount of user input has been great thanks guys. On current US bnet build (0.88d)
Bugged at act I with getting 2 teleporter beacon
and i CANT get rid of one, get so they could be dropped...
First of all, there is one version going around uploaded by someone else than me (ingame: Gniller) wich indeed is outdated and not working. My uploaded version should work but i haven't checked it other than from my own account, ill try to find a solution as soon as possible. IF there indeed is a problem ofourse ^^
I allready tryed to join your version of the game, but i can't find it on the EU servers :) so your (koskichu) problaly making the same mistake that i do.
Ill have some updated information as soon as possible
Update: Solved the issue, made a pretty stupid mistake when updating to update it to a private release :$, should work wonderfull now, also updated the name so search "ORPG" should work to find the map in EU!
over next few weeks I've got some minor interface updates (keyboard turning, improved tab targetting) but i want to do some hero adjustments in preparation for my next mysterious branch of the project. Next update in 2 weeks
I want all heroes to be doing around 1.5k-3k single target dps by level 45, so there will be a few new talent upgrades introduced in act II. I just did Killing spree and another rank of improved merciless strike for the Dark Templar, and the class feels AWESOME. A few things I'm working on (and will be working on)
I just wanted to let williebrod know that the map doesnt work at all on EU servers. Well yes u can create the game and you can come in and walk around, but on all button and menus it just writes "Param blablabla" etc, ofc that is the version which someone else uploaded, but ive been searching for "Shadows of the Tal'Darim Act I" in at least twenty different ways and no, it does not exist on the EU server. Gife solution! I want to play this map so bad =)
Edit. I have now converted the map using the mpq editor and will try to upload it, be back soon with an update
Edit. Success, converted to enGB and fully functioning on the EU servers now under the exact name "Shadows of the Tal'darim - Act 1" Sharicasmi, thanks for all the links on how to do it. And i hope u approve me uploading it properly, all props to u sir! <3
Updated succesfully aswell, heroes don't get lost in the process! will keep the game up to date for EU as much as possible but it'll problaly have a bit delay ofcourse ^^
New interface is looking good btw!
thanks will! I usually post updates every week unless i make breakthrough changes, it's fine if you don't get to update for awhile, I'm just glad this got through to the RPG fans over at EU.
I am completely changing the UI next release, so players will have a new XP bar, player portrait, mana bar, target portrait, Stats dialog tooltip text (you have X% chance to crit etc), these changes are already live on US bnet.
Map uploaded, localized, and tested for EU region. Seems to work just fine!
Official name was in use for EU region by someone that didnt localize as it should, uploaded localized version as 'Shadows of the Tal'Darim Act I'
Ill try to keep up with the updates or get the map offline if anyone whishes to take over :)
ingame-uploader: Gniller
Hope this makes some people happy in EU region! ^^
