SC2 Dance Dance Revolution
[SC2 DDR]
[MEDIUM LEVEL COMPLETE]
Remember Dance Dance Revolution? The game that many people loved in the past?
This map is inspired by DDR and I thought it's quite possible to re-make it with the sc2 editor engine.b It's still in an early stage, not even alpha yet. Just a peek of what the game would look like = )
screenshots and files are attached.

[Medium Level COMPLETE]
Medium Level is Completed. Hope you have fun. I will stop this project here bcoz seems the current b.net is laggy and cant do any testing. Still hope you enjoy the game = ) It should be fairly hard for some of you.
Video:
Better off not making it function via b.net, since how step mania and DDR related games are entirely latency efficient.
The best you can probably do is getting single player to work, add a leaderboards for musics, and maybe make it possible to download replays via a unofficial site or something?
Probably better to create a external client that manages the mp3...
How? You go into the editor and link a "folder" for it's source of music and files...
Then this folder can be modified and have multiple files added onto it.
This is also similar to how StepMania works, because all it does is look into a Song folder, find a folder with the music name that consists of a mp3 and/or video, with the "step" file.
Go look up how step mania works, and you'll figure it out.
You can probably bypass the lag and stuff if you used a UI for the entire game... Maybe making use of "symbols" and HUDs and GUIs. If so, then the person who made a "Touhou" shooter will be able to create it entirely in 2d and not having to mess with the terrain and units, as it becomes entirely out of coding and variables (pure programming vs map editing).
This is so awesome! <3
I think it's gonna be great when you're able to sync everything and able to put options like 1.5x speed or like C400, <3 ddr xD
<youtube video uploaded>
thanks for the input guys. @dra6o0n Good idea, I wasnt sure how to sort out the file size too. I will give it a try later on when the music and arrows and sync on the b.net
@yzakjoule apparently nope. I've tried on that but couldn't find anyway to do it. Maybe I'm still noob haha
lol great idea! dancing marines, hydras, etc.
is there a way you can make it so that you can upload your own music and the arrows adjust to the music automatically?
Problem, mp3 size would be a big issue to import into a map, so you'd probably want to make a mod rather than a map, and have it use dependencies to a list of music files? So rather than the whole map cost you up to 10MB, this enables you to put even HD videos etc, into the mod, without ramping up the size on it.
It's only a theory though, but if there's way smart way to bypass SC2's use of size, it could create a external folder within the client's pc, and use the folder to put custom mp3s and "stepmania" files maybe?
Fixed many stuff and medium level completed.
Please download the right version. (zhTW is in traditional chinese so dont download it if you cant understand lol)
i wish i would be able to read .... get only para/asfalsdf/544654565
can't wait!! keep up the good work man!
@stubobiscool thanks for the website. The game is in the progress and looking very good so far. I will upload the version once I get the arrows on the beat.
@slighlyoff I totally understand that it's just for testing = ) the intermediate version is hard if you jump from beginner. I have remade the game engine and how arrows are spawned. Will upload it very soon
I know this comment is sort of inappropriate for a pre-alpha version but The difficulty jump from beginner to intermediate is too large lol. I went from easily beating it to not being able to do it at all. So once you get the timings down work on that :)
And btw, I love that you chose that song :)
you should totally make it compatible with stepmania songs lol :P

@DarkRevenantX I am currently doing an alternative way to solve this problem, it should work perfectly but we will see!! Thanks though I know it's hard I've been trying to work it out for days, only for this problem. Should be solved soon.
The timer is clamped to 1/16 second intervals. It's a severe limitation and you will probably be forced to go through a lot of trickery to get this done right. I'm warning you now that it will not be easy.
@ghoohg thank you, I have updated about controls. you can go to the Import [F9] and export the song by right clicking->export file
intermediate is not really like an expert. See my screenshot ;P beat it easily
might want to show how to click start, maybe the beats are just a little to fast/slow and it adds up. Beethoven cuts out around bc on novice, intermediate is more like expert and continues way past end. Ill take a look and see if I can help.
can we request songs?
WOW!!! The editor can make DDR too???
