How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Huge thanks to Maverck for his SC2BW, Ultraling for starting this project back in the day, and everyone who contributed. Last but not least, we're very grateful for the overwhelming support of the Starcraft community. Thank you.

I've seen that error when people put their sc1BWmod.sc2mod in Documents/Starcraft II, rather than Program Files/Starcraft II (there are two separate Starcraft II folders with the same name on your computer). Open your Starcraft II/Mods folder : you should see other things called "challenges", "liberty campaign" and the like. If you see the sc1mod and/or sc1BWmod but nothing else, you didn't put the mod at the right place.
hey guys First, Thanks for the mod, I can see that much effort has been out into it, look very polished! :-D Second, I have a problem. I just installed the mod on Heart of the Swarm v2.0.9, put everything in the right place (nice and simple "how to" guide, thanks), and launched SCMR setup/SC BW campaign launcher. The campaign menu loads, but every mission I select can not be loaded, that is, I hit play, a loading screen comes up and start to load, but less than half way into loading an error message comes up: "The launch of this game makes reference to mod or map dependencies which are no longer available." The screen turns black, and there is no way to get rid of it or even quit the game except Alt+Ctrl+Del. I checked and double checked every file's place, loaded both launchers, changed the expansion level to Wings of Liberty, and even tried to load each map by editor, which shows the message: "Dependedancy data could not be loaded. Dependency file could not be found (Mods\SC1BWmod\SC2Mod). What could be the problem?
If you want we have all 6 episodes still upgraded to HotS,terraining/gameplay updates and some awfull bugs caused by HotS update fixed,also our 2 awesome mods are upgraded to hots,there are still some bugs,but nothing too much problematic,all that i saying is about italian version,contact us with PM if you are interested... and obviously if you want
@jones313 & @ Telenil
well ive tried both, nothing seems to work but im going to give it another go I really love what you've done with the campaign, the feeling of glorious nostalgia i get when i play the mod is unreal haha.
p.s I found a really awesome cover of the Terran theme for you guys to check out and I was wondering if you would ever add it in to the mod for the music in the Terran campaign :)
edit: fixed it :)))) /:C > windows (x86) > stacraft 2 > starcraft 2 bam.
either im mentally challenged and didnt see the secondary starcraft 2 folder or it just randomly appeared :P
FirefoxGhost
Yeah sorry bout that - sent you a PM.

Some wild stabs in the dark:
If you're using the editor to launch the maps, don't have Starcraft 2 running when you do this.
Try saving/overwriting the maps with the editor before starting them.
Try redownloading the files.
@xeNNNNN: Go
Try going to Options -> Gameplay -> Expansion level and switch to Wings of Liberty. Not sure if it will work, but it solved some issues for other people.

Hello Jones313, first thank you for your answer. But maybe you don’t find my reply to your answer, so I would like to link it here:

The German version is already finished, it just need to be uploaded.
I would be very glad if you answer me.
@Miles07: Go
how do i do that? (im kinda noob at this) i dont load it in game i do it directly from the editor so im unsure how to switch to WoL.
Can you tell me how exactly?
EDIT: just tried it, still nothing seems bugged IMO, I have installed it all correctly exactly as i did before but still nothing, ive double checked, triple checked, quad checked.
either im missing something or the mod just hates HoTS :)
@xeNNNNN: Go
Here's the solution: Switch to WoL when playing this mod. They're STILL working on making this project work on HotS, so it's not ready yet.
(sorry if someone replied to me about this on the rebel yell campaign comments but i couldnt find the response or anything so im reposting my problem here as its the most recent campaign.)
Hey peeps,
I am having some what of a dilemma, before SC2 HotS came out everything was working fine, all the modded campaigns were working perfectly no crashes no nothing, so after my play through of HotS I wanted to go back and play through every SC2 campaign again, however this time it wont let me load any of the maps, ive re downloaded everything made sure every file and folder were in the correct directory area's and still I cant open the maps?
by the way the exact error I get is "unable to open map" then i get sent straight back to the log-in screen >_>
can some one help me with this? its driving me crazy lol
If you can, email me with the response : [email protected]

Okay, I think it would be good when there is one German WoL version of the project so I would like to share it now or as soon as possible. So how can I do this? Can I send the files to you or provide a download link? And is it possible to communicate with you via PMs? I think that would be easier.
@GongFuPandak: Go
why in the original starcraft used units from broodwar?
I have a few suggestions and questions.
Hope at least some of my questions get answered...
@FirefoxGhost: Go
Yes! Go ahead.
Everything's still a work in progress, though, so it's up to you if you want to do it for the current version(s), or wait for an unknown amount of time (probably a few months, really can't say yet), and do it directly for the HotS edition.
@Jones313
Hello, so now I played all the campaigns through and first I want to say that this whole project is really well done and I want to thank you for such a great work.
I watched this project a long time and I would like to contribute this awesome project with my German version/translation of the mod, the maps, etc.
I think it would be nice to have as many languages as possible for your fantastic work and so I hope you agree to my proposal.
It can be uploaded to the arcade (I have done it with an older version). You just have to split it into smaller parts, and create a mod that uses all those parts as dependencies.
@jeaz: Go
It's too large for the arcade. All maps must be smaller than 20Mo, and the mod is over 110Mo. Additionally, we are limited to 20 maps or mod per account, and the remake has 59 maps plus the mod.
Just out of curiosity - is this mod using something that prohibits it from being in the Arcade?
@Kazor132: Go
Yes we will, but we are taking our time.
