How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Huge thanks to Maverck for his SC2BW, Ultraling for starting this project back in the day, and everyone who contributed. Last but not least, we're very grateful for the overwhelming support of the Starcraft community. Thank you.
Are you guys adding new models and stuff from Hots to this remakes?
@Jones313: Go
At the expense of the speed of construction sorry was wrong
NicheJ
Ah, of course. This is actually used in some indoor maps. However, reduced radius implies... reduced radius. Should probably investigate.
Lyambda
Everything is timed according to the fastest game speed in both games, with those settings I'm getting 50 real time seconds on the Barracks build in both the original and the remake.
Of course the SCV has lost its construction animation, we were getting dangerously low on glitches! Wonder when that happened. I think you're a little too good at spotting these things. :) But seriously, thanks.
@Jones313: Go
Hi What about the speed of construction With a speed test built barracks turned out that Barack broodwar version based on an average speed of 80 seconds, and in your mod it builds 69 seconds at an average speed. Yes, I was sitting with a stopwatch. As the average speed of the game in sc1 and sc2 is different from a maximum of 20% I think that the decrease in the rate of construction of all units and buildings is a mistake.
And in scv disappeared animation construction
@Jones313
The units seeing terrain on high ground is an easy fix: in Map Options, set Unexplored Areas to Black Mask (Reduced Radius).
I haven't played this episode yet, but the missions in the other episodes I've played have been excellent. Kudos.
@Jones313
Yeah just the pre-placed ones the defilers in the other levels i played (up till level 6) are fine.
Lyambda
Well spotted. I checked the build times and you're right - all the Zerg unit morph times are off. That's a little embarrassing. They've reset to SC2 values at some point, I think they've been this way for a while.
The 20% reduced build times are simply how Maverck converted Brood War time to SC2 time (1 BW second is somewhere around 0,8 SC2 seconds).
Units on low ground can see high ground terrain, yes. I'm actually not sure if there's an easy way to change that. Anyway, units or buildings aren't visible unless you're attacked by them, as far as I know.
Might release a quick update for the build times shortly, along with a little something else...
stratostygo
Does this happen specifically in the first mission, with pre-placed Defilers? As far as I can tell the Defiler model works fine otherwise.
DingoDyno
Yeah, it's certainly possible we missed both of those things. We'll have another look later on.
you guys did a fantastic job, and very nice touch with the Metroid music for maps 9 and 10 great twist xD but i do have some things i want to say about map 9, in the original, if you killed one of the critters on there, a broodling spawned out of it, idk if you left it out on purpose or not, and i think u forgot a drop ship as well, as i recall there being 2 of them then one, that is all
I seem to have a problem with the defilers, they only appear as debug dome things, I looked at the other suggestions but nothing works, help.
Great job. Big thanks to all people who have done any work for this high quality SC1 remake series.
Minor issue (English map v1.1, English mod v4.7, Korean client v2.0.4) Skipping the intro battle in scenario 2 will reveal the map for entire game.
Hi all, Why hydra is built longer than lings? And why all the units and buildings reduced construction time by 20%?
Whether that unit located on low ground can see the high ground of the building and terrain?
HunterKiller does not change the icon and the figure will attack after the first upgrade
It's all taken care of - mod 4.7 is out, and so are we. For the time being. Have fun, guys.
DaveyyGaga
I don't know man. Doesn't necessarily have to do with the mod - try the new version, it should fix the missing model issues at least. One perhaps obvious thing would be to try different graphic settings.
Starcraft has occasionally been freezing on me as well, though alt-tabbing to Windows and back has solved it (dropping graphics would help I guess, but I refuse to do that). This has also happened during the WoL campaign, for example.
Oh, and a quick Google search turns up this. https:sea.battle.net/support/en/article/starcraft-ii-crash-troubleshooting-black-screen-when-launching-or-playing
Cacho56
Hey man, uh, thanks for your trouble, but we've got it covered. :P
Hi!
I've made a map where the problem with the attack animation of the hydralisks and the model of the burrowed zerglings is corrected. You just have to see what is added in it and incorporate it to the mod.
Link Removed: http://www.mediafire.com/?zdberqs8o3fse7i
You have to open the sc1mod.SC2Mod, go to the data tab in the editor (F7) and change the actors for the hydralisk, zergling and devouring one to match with the map downloaded.
Hi guys..
Firstly, well done - this is absolutely amazing. Having a few problems, though:
I've followed the walkthrough on how to play this to the letter but the animations are still off. I appear to be half looking through the unit portrait's heads at the briefing (and sometimes it's just totally black). Cutscenes completely die, too - whenever they move, it's just black screen. The actual in-game content is fine, though, except a few units (like zerglings) are just little domes when I run around, and some units don't show up during fights.
I assume this is an animation issue to do with the mod but my technical expertise ends there really. Any help, anyone?
@Kazor132: Go
Oh, I see why this happens. Thanks for the report, we will fix at some point.
Got a weird problem, in mission two, I accidentally right-clicked on the dropship that comes to rescue the SCV with my torrasque and it got stuck inside without any possibiliby for it to get out.
Hey y'all
DingoDyno69
You can solve your inability to select enemy units in the options -> gameplay menu.
i dont know if anybody has mentioned this or not but when playing the missions now since the new patch it seems you cant lick on enemy units, structures or even neutural geysers also it seems like the cheat power overwhelming isnt working but black sheep wall is
Jones313
Yes, you are absolutely right! But I can`t play new one and I will explain why. My client version is 1.4.3 because I play with Starfriend and it doesn`t support 1.5+ yet. It is probably the reason why I get "unable to open the map" when trying to play english version of QoB. Thanks god, russian version works fine. But it is only 1.0b. So, I must get over it :(
