Forever and a day in the making, here's my take on the legendary UED campaign from Starcraft: Brood War. Nostalgic, faithful to the original, surprisingly fresh at the same time and most of all fun to play are the things I was going for when creating it.
Thanks to a bunch of people including but not necessarily limited to Telenil, christdaugherty, Superfield, Jimm3110, Ultraling, Maverck, GnaReffotsirk for their feedback and/or other (direct or indirect) contributions to this little project. Also thanks to my brother for all the playtesting I made him do, and thanks to all you people for the feedback/support and/or just general interest in the project. Much fun was had making the campaign (among other things), I hope you'll have at least as much fun playing.
Features
- all 8+1 original missions
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign, and more
- classic UED unit decals
- two difficulty levels (maps tested exclusively on Stukov (harder) difficulty, so you can consider it the "default" difficulty)
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player
- all kinds of cinematic/cosmetic flavor
- Duran has the snipe ability because why not

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

If you can't do it, I'll understand regardless. :)
Heey
as everyone has noticed, we don't post much lately - it's mainly because in between our internal endless discussions on the 6th episode and trying to maintain jobs and lives of some sort, we're trying to also focus on, you know, getting the maps done. Apparently we can still easily end up underestimating the amount of work it takes, but we're getting close, real close. Now I might regret saying this, but Queen of Blades should be out sometime late January - early February.
Also, it's Ultraling, the guy who started this thing!
Ultraling:
Um, hi! I sent you a PM.
Wunterwaffen:
Snow maps are pure Niflheim (or whatever) for now. We'll see what can be done once HotS is out. As for the ending, that's one of the few things that still need work... your suggestion sounds doable enough, we'll see. Whatever we end up with, I doubt I'll be satisfied with it.
Wow! Holy shit! There's 5 whole episodes released! I've been out of the loop for longer than I thought. Just came here after catching VaipoGaming's playthrough of Episode IV on Youtube. Amazing work guys and an impressive level of commitment to the development of these maps! Congrats to you all for coming this far. These campaigns are everything I had envisioned them to be when I was tinkering around with Episode I back in the beta. I deeply regret that I wasn't around to help develop the later episodes with you all but now I can die happy knowing this wonderful mega project didn't die off.
Live long and prosper, gentlemen.

Woo! Only one mission left! Keep it up Telenil!

As Howling said!
Jimm, Jones and I are each working on a different part of the maps, which didn't make them come faster than before, but certainly made them better. I know how it feels, it's just that we want to do as much polishing as possible before releasing the maps.
Artharot do you want it done half fast or done right?
Owww come on!!! It's only 1 mission. Please fast.
When you will finish Queen of Blades campaign? Before HotS?
Just saw that number go from 7 to 8. Keep it up! :)
@Telenil: Go
Hi pal. I know I've been silent for like a year, but I've finally gotten of my ass to recommend a few things to you. First, do you wish to redo the ice missions with the HotS Kaldir tileset now or wait until the full game comes out? Second is my recommendations for the ending cinematic to the Zerg campaign: During the first part where Kerrigan talks, have that be a cinematic, but with the Dugalle suicide note part, you can go easy on yourself and just have it be text. Tell me what you think.
I'm having an issue, i used to be able to play this remake, but sence patch 1.5 came out the maps destination cant be found or i dont have permission to access the file, what do i do?
@SGTMeowmers9: Go
Hopefully in 2012. I've put a progress bar in my signature, if that works, I'll update it as work progresses.
Hey, when's the 6th campaign coming out?
Thanks for the feedback (everyone). This'll have to wait for a while, but I'll look into this in the future. I'll comment on the nukes not being removed, though - it's kind of intentional:
The 2nd mission is the only mission where the difficulty settings don't really make any difference - I think harder difficulty gives the enemy fleet 1-2 extra BC's, but that's about it (so far).
I like the maps and mod so far but I have found a few glitches in the shipyard. (on harder)
Thank you for working so hard on this campaign. I hope my nitpicking is not annoying. I enjoyed this as much as broodwar, but only because my computer lags so it's not "better." Had to use some new tricks to win, I like the harder settings. Good work team!
This one has been by far my favorite campaign, I still get chills when Stukov is killed by Duran and he said his last words, awesome work on this, waiting to see the Queen of Blades!!
@Telenil and that is why you guys rock :D, i would donate money to you guys just to have you guys also remake some of my favorite campaigns besides brood war and the original, like the enslavers campaigns, the mission where Raynor and Taldrun rescue and deinfest Stukov, and the Antioch Chronicles :D
@DingoDyno69: Go
There is no reason to apologize, this is a Brood War remake and people play it because they feel it is true to the original. I wouldn't have the motivation to keep working on such a massive project if not for the awesome story that goes through these six campaigns.
@Jones313 alright man you rock :D, you know for me its always the storyline and dialogue that i loved most about SC1 and 2 more then the actual game play its self, thats why i make a big deal about it :p sorry
@DingoDyno69: Go
Yeah you're right, DuGalle's comment is missing. Don't know how I missed that. As for the comment about the door, it seems to happen if you bring a marine on the beacon instead of Duran. In this remake, I think the cutscene starts when any of your units reaches the door, so you don't actually need Duran for that. This is basically the reason I was talking about. Doesn't make much difference, but I'll probably change that for the next update. Cheers.
