First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Hi,
Soon we'll be able to use mods independently from maps, it would be cool if we could use SC1BW mod to play SC1 on SC2 maps :)
@Telenil, just got done playing the precursor not to long ago,its alright, but it was somewhat dry and not as cool and epic as the stuff that comes of you and Jones313a magic hands, we'd still like if you guys can take a crack at it if its still possible as it seems anything you and Jones313 and Ultraling, if hes still around comes out epic
@Telenil: Go
I know, right? Looks like we'll have to wait for 2.1 before the next update on Mass Recall can get released!
According to BlizzCon, remastered Brood War musics will be added to the regular SC2! How awesome is that?
@DingoDyno69: Go
Maybe it's not all on servers. Search for Precursors on the EU.
@Telenil, i tryed looking for the precursor in the arcade after reading ur comment, i cant find it on there, do u know what name its under?
Can't wait its release :) I finished Episode 2 in April, and I knew that Episode 3 needed some rework then I wait since April, and I see Episode 3 has been completely redone <3 Can't wait !
A preview of the features included in version 2.0 can be found on the Teamliquid thread.
@Telenil: Go
Thanks for the reply! Aaah, no worries then, it was just a thought :)
And just to congratulate this/your team on an excellent job well done for this mod! We'd already have the Protoss expansion if blizz had you guys :)
@Aeonix11: Go
It won't be as simple as that. The mod modifies the SC2 tech tree, as opposed to creating a new one. Having both SC2 and Brood War tech is possible in theory, but you would have to duplicate every unit and upgrade the mod changed and Reset them to their original SC2 version.
@Xeroshiroyuki: Go
Precursor was done by someone else, it is available on the Arcade. As far as the rest is concerned, stay tuned.
tnx for the GREAT job Is it possible if u Remake the "Biting Bullet/Ops. Silent Scream" Mission of SC1 and Precursor/Enslavers arc. it'll be great if u did!!!
Hey guys! Just wondering if it's possible to play through any/all of your maps as a Zerg with the Starcraft2 mechanics (units, abilities, ect) ?
I'm new to SC2 map modding and think it may be as easy as dropping a SC2 drone in these maps.
@RobertCL: Go
Thanks for the feedback, here are some replies:
a) We configured the maps to go to Faster every time because 99% of the players want it that way. I don't know how SC2 itself handles speeds beyond that.
b) Cinematics is something we have tried to include, but it didn't work: the video tends to lag a lot, even on powerful computers, while the sound continues at full speed. The cinematics quickly become an unwatchable mess as the sound and images go out of sync.
c) We will add a new "Easy" difficulty in the next version, the current easier will become Medium. This may or may not be enough, I can always do more balancing after the release.
d) The mouse is hidden during the cutscene and I guess we didn't ask the game to show it again. I'll look into it.
Hi,
I just finished Rebell Yell campaign. Some remarks
a) By default speed is fastest, couldn't the game keep my settings (normal) permanently ? (in original Starcraft 2 game the computer keeps my settings) Each time I launch a game I need to go in the options and set fastest to normal...
b) Couldn't owner of original Starcraft 1 DVD place movies somewhere on HDD so that we could see the real movies while playing your campaign (I mean the cinematics) ? Or could you integrate cinematics in the version of December ?
c) I am happy Starcraft 2 cheatcodes work perfectly (try "whorunbartertown" and you have all money and gas needed to finish your scenarios), otherwise impossible even at easy difficulty settings. Attention, saving a game while cheating is not a good idea because totally leaving the game and then loading SC 2 the next day with the saved game will cause game crash (I have an error message linked to the graphic drivers), the sole option is to play the scenario while cheating until the end! So spend your whole evening! Not cheating is the sole way to save usable games for the next day...
d) When I finished Rebel Yell, the player has the choice to exit or to save the campaign score but at this moment the mouse does not work anymore/ The sole option is to use ALT S. Why does the mouse not work anymore ?
Your work is excellent, the original SC2 campaign is finished easily and there are not enough scenarios in it. I can't wait to see your version of December 2013! Thx a lot to the team! AT least with your work I can play hours with the Terrans (and use the medics, my preferred unit in game, I also love the robots built at the factory)
@ambigus9: Go
No idea, I don't even know if someone is actually working on it.
I should be able to make a first preview of the new functionnalities of version 2.0 at some point in the next two weeks. Expected release date is December 2013.
@Telenil When it'll be available the Spanish version?
@RobertCL: Go
Unfortunately you cannot make "standard" maps to play with or against the AI. The AI doesn't build units on its own, you have to program it every time.
Version 2.0 of the remake is coming in December, the current "easier" will become "medium" and we will add an Easy difficulty that most people should be able to complete.
No cheat codes except reveal map and instant victory.
Thank you for the appreciation!
@RobertCL: Go
Did you try clicking 'Repair' and left click on target?
You can also try right click on 'Repair' for automatic repairing.
Another question: How do we repair dropships ? In SC1 we used SCV, here it seems right clicking cannot work... (left clicking put you on board of the ship)
Hello,
Congrats to the developper, an excellent portage from SC1 to SC2!
But "easy" difficulty setting is quite hard for me.
I tried to use SC2 and SC1 cheat codes without result ("Smolderbolds", "Show me the money")
Do you have your own list of cheat codes ? There are some missions I cannot win even at easy difficulty settings.
I would really like to use your maps and your engine in the custom game when I play with some AI friends against AI opponents, would it be possible ?
Congrats again, it is better to play SC1 campaigns within SC2 engine than using SC1 under SC1 engine modded in high resolution.
When it'll be available the Spanish version??
