First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Yes please @ topsecret's desert request
Are we going to get a mission 9 that's been remade to the area of the SC2 cutscene instead of on an orbital platform (the deserty area)? Since the invasion of the zerg was on planet, makes more sense to be fighting on the planet as well imo.
Same terrain and doodad placement whatnot, just made so that it's not in space.
Another thing is that I was looking through the galaxy editor on extreme graphics (since I can't actually play with graphics that high) and the decals that appear on the units aren't what they were, at least according to lore. The Sons of Korhal needed a arm with the whip around it, the confederate forces probably shouldn't have had a bunch of zerg decals, and occasionally, the player is given protoss decals, as well. Are these just placeholders for the editor, or is that how they appear ingame as well?
josephting:
Hey, you're welcome!
svg1988:
Well, unless someone else creates an excellent Brood War campaign remake first, then yeah. Eventually.
are you going to do starcraft brood war all 3 of them ?
Awesome stuff!! Although I don't know French at all, I'm sorta relieved when I hear something from you again. Looking forward to the Protoss campaign. Thanks and keep up the good work! =)
Hey guys. Our project's been pretty quiet lately, but thanks again to everyone for continuing to show interest, it's like the greatest thing ever. Even when I'm not really showing interest at the moment, quite honestly I'm just waiting for Ultraling to do his thing with the Protoss episode before working on anything myself (and no, I don't have a clue when). I'll try to release a small Zerg update one of these days.
Anyway, a user by the name of Choum28 has put together a French translation of the two episodes, for all you French-speaking fans out there, complete with all the audio from the original French version of Starcraft. I'll be uploading the translated versions now. I don't really speak French at all (despite having "studied" it for a while as a kid), but I checked out the translated version a little bit and it seemed well done. Thanks to Choum for his work on that!
To answer some of your questions:
Iecerint:
About the intro cutscenes, only a few missions have them, mostly just the ones with some dialogue at the beginning so the black screen you usually get is working as intended. About mission 8, all I can say is, for me it's usually just Marines, Medics, Tanks and Norad in that mission (maybe some Wraiths), nothing special, really. That should get you through it. Use Norad to pick off enemy Tanks etc. Something I like to do would be a drop on the left (east) high ground to take out their Starport etc. I dunno, watch out for their Tanks, that is, use scan and Norad a lot. If you're feeling lucky you could even drop Marines right on top of their Tanks, that also works.
CraftMaster:
Well yeah, I guess the unused missions could be added kind of as bonus content. And sure, you can do the terraining for the unused missions if you want, and we'll see if we can't finish them up. Just don't expect them up instantly, heh. As for the Hyperion hijack, sounds like a decent idea but it actually occurred on a different location, that is, the Dylarian Shipyards, orbiting Dylar IV. Obviously being the huge nerd that I am I'd still like the remake to accurately represent the actual Starcraft story.
Crypto2000:
What Iecerint said, that is, not going to happen unfortunately, at least until Blizzard adds some actual campaign support.
zlytle:
Uh, it just means the folder where your game is installed. Try your Windows (or whatever OS you have) search function and search for "starcraft ii" and the folder should pop up.
It's probably in something like
C:/Program Files x86/Starcraft II
Or it may be in another folder if you manually installed it somewhere else.
Im having issues downloading/installing. I cantfind my Starcraft 2 Install directory Can someone give me a walkthrough of how to do it?
Trump Card is mission 7. Kerrigan is available in mission 7 and 9, but not 8. General Duke is available in mission 8.
I don't think co-op is possible until Blizzard adds custom campaign support to battle.net
Is it possible to make a co-op mode for this in future? It would be nice to be able to play this remake with friends.
No, it was mission 8 I was talking about, which is called the Tramp Card if I am not mistaken. I didn't use ghost there at all, besides Kerrigan, although she didn't play any big role there for me.
@Iecerint: The 2 unused terran missions were found when hacking into the first few releases of SC1. The first one "Bitting the bullet" was a mission where the protoss (led by Tassadar) help you save an antigan colony from the zerg; it was intended to be mission 7 and was nearly "complete" with an Ai that was not only much more dificult than any other in the campaign but also can built an expansion (wich they only mine with 3 drones :p). .
The other was called "Operation silent scream" it was a unit only (no building) mission ment to take place after the big push (the mission you were asking for help with). You start with a huge army and hve to desroy 3 bases on Tarsonis, it looks quite unfinished (I just remembered I added a dropship that drops off rescued units instead of them just apearing in my download, oops), and ends with the same end "cut scene" at the end of the big push, basickly you had to unwittingly secure locations on the planet for the psi emiters. both maps were partialy reused to make enslavers missions (do a comparrison)
Also Iecerint please don't double post so much, just eddit your last post.
It sounds like you're talking about Mission 09, where you have to defend the Zerg and defeat the protoss.
I'm talking about 08, which was originally the mission that introduced Ghosts. You're "supposed" to go nuke-happy, though I've never played the stage that way, and all the tanks and marines the enemy throws at you makes them too weak an option, anyway.
Though I guess I never saw them bring a SV, so maybe it's not such an outlandish idea, after all.
I beat Zerg08, though. :P
Iecerint, maybe this will help you
You know, that mission was one of the hardest out of terran's episode, and I was about to give up. Eventually I did win. What I did - first I secured my main base and Kerrigan and just made rather small army to move out... Mostly tanks and some air support. That's where I ran out of resources, so I had to go to the nearest expansion - right down. As soon as I set CC there, enemy seemed to forget about my base at all. At the beginning I tried to secure the highland up the expansion but AI would kick me out most of the times. Then I would just attack the coming troops on me from the air, to prevent enemy tanks push me out from the expansion. As soon as my aircrafts would face the enemies' I would retreat to my ex. under cover of goliaths and infantry. Eventually I managed to make another army of tanks, goliathes and wraith and slowly moved to the needed enemy CC, proceeding rather slowly but surely... letting my siege tanks raise any bases and not letting him to rebuild them, covering by wraiths, at times attacking enemy tanks before they change to the siege mode. By the time I cleared the way there my expansion was raised but I did manage to deliver imitator in time. So my advise to you - you need to use both - ground and air unites acting in tight cooperation.
Ah well. I gave up again.
Oh. Well, there's your answer (probably).
Thanks for the advice. I'd been trying to go air, which is what I normally do on that map, BUT wasn't working out so well.
@Iecerint: Go
I thought of that too, I yet don't have the money to get SC2 so I had it from torrents, maybe I'll try and patch it to 1.3 and it will maybe run...
You mean the big push? you need to get on the top of the ramp, make some barracks or factories, but you don't make units out of it, build a lot of siege tanks and MM(Marines and Medics), expand to the top left, and when you have many siege tanks and MM push out...
Does anyone have any advice for Terran 08? It seems impossible... : /
Unused missions?
Are you talking about Enslavers and so on?
