First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

@Jones313: Go
when can see The Protoss campaign soon i love the The Protoss they rock and u rock too keep it coming
I realize that these replies are way late, but here ya go.
winglit236:
Yeah, thanks, people have been saying the same thing. I think I know what the problem is, I'm working on an update that'll hopefully fix it.
Dricus:
Nice. Not getting my hopes up about any kind of single-player campaign support from Blizzard anymore, but that'd be nice.
SoSoSeth1990:
You don't need to open the file, just follow the instructions.
Wacclian321:
Thanks, I'll add it to The List.
Shadowhunter2112:
Yeah apparently some people have problems with downloading the files. I dunno, I don't run the site or anything so I can't help you with that, sorry. I'll try to put an update out soon, check back to see if you can download that.
SpaceJam83:
Well, play without medics, I guess. One thing you can't say about the remake is that it's easier than the original.
Good Job except for the "Artistic license". I don't agree with the medics in the Rebel Yell campaign. Makes the game more easy and different from original. There's much fun playing without medics. And the mission 4? What is that?
uh...jones, this sounds really cool, but I am unable to download the map file: when I click on the download button, my tab gets stuck at "connecting" and nothing happens. Help would be appreciated.
I have but one bug to report : ) I've been playing through the Zerg Campaign and it seems that the Hydralisk Upgrade Muscular Augments lacks a hotkey, which should be 'M'.
By the way... Keep up the good work. I cannot wait to try out the Protoss Campaign and finally the Brood War Remakes : )
For some reason every time I try to download the SC1mod.SC2Mod file at the end of the download it always says that it cannot open this file where it says use a web service to find a program or find offline and theres nothing I can do to change that. I wanted to play these but now I see its impossible
Don't know if this has been posted yet, but here's a little trick for those who want to play these maps while connected to battle.net. Assuming you're starting off with the first mission, here's what you need to do.
The game won't auto-save your progress, so make sure that you save your game when you stop playing, so you can load it back up when you want to continue where you stopped. If you do that, you won't have to repeat the above procedure, because then your game will be saved in your Battle.net account specific folder.
HEY figured out why when you load the map sometimes the animations dont start, if you dont have 3d portraits enabled the program cant start up the cutscenes at the opening screen to missions, so no mission breifings. hope this helps :D
Still alive! Thanks for the comments and sorry for not responding in a while, I've been out of the "Game" for a bit. The Protoss campaign is in good hands, though.
I should've probably pointed out this known issues-page I put together a while ago, after going through all the feedback. It's mainly to help with development so it might not be very easily readable. Thanks to everyone who reported all this stuff. I'm slowly but surely starting to work on a little update for both episodes, going through the map-related issues for now. Nothing drastic, just working on some small details. This will not delay the Protoss campaign, by the way.
yackles:
Hahaha. Go AI!
FedrickSC2fan:
You need to have at least the mod file in the correct folder, that is, the "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory. Read the Download & how to play-section above. Then, just select and play one map at a time.
Anterro:
Heh, damn straight. =P And thanks, we try.
@yackles: Go
I wont listen to this guy here. The campaign is nearly to perfect. i was fully flashed by my past playing this excellent work of you. Some words to the people who say its to difficult: If the difficulty is to high, then your abilitys are too low. I played both campains in about 12 Hours......... And it was awesome!
There is a big problem .... I do this: First, download the map files from the internet, then download the mod and what I put them both in a folder named by me "campaign" that is inside another folder on your desktop called "Brood War" then after I what 'I said, "CraftMasterTheBlackHayate. Later I with the mouse displays all the maps and the mod folder and right click the Start ... nothing strange until you understand that when I start a map chooses randomly from among those I selected and then in addition there is an equally big problem, when I start the maps are not heroes! and then also when I see the heroes there are not even in the editor. How can I do?? please ask me! : (
If you love the original Starcraft AVOID THIS HACKJOB REMAKE LIKE THE PLAGUE and wait for somebody more talented to come out with a more ACCURATE remake. This abomination has the difficulty level of the original Starcraft turned up like 10 times more harder. None of your original tactics you loved to use in the original Starcraft campaign will work here as the author has ruined the maps by making the AI rebuild everything you destroy and giving the enemy godlike AI abilities. It's impossible. This completely inaccurat remake deserves a 1 out of 10 and the people who made it should leave the map making scene and go back to serving fries at mcdonalds.
I solved the breifing problem (background appears but breifing doesent start)
Now if the breifing fails to load properly (wich it always does) it will play regardless.
This is one of the coolest things I've found so far. I LOVE playing the old missions with the new graphics. There are some slight tweaks I would make to make it smoother. I'd also add a difficulty option (but hey, the SCII cheat codes work so it's not completely necessary). But overall this is really a dream come true. Thanks so much for putting this together. :)
Excellent work on the campaign, however like a few others I'm wondering if you could release a version of these campaigns with the difficulty setting lower? I played through wings of liberty on 'normal' difficulty and that was hard enough for me, this difficulty is just too much for me to get through while still having fun (I'm pretty horrible at RTS games but love the storyline of starcraft)
Thank you and keep up the great work! :)
yes i read the directions. Step 1 doesn't work cause the zip file is corrupt or incomplete
I have no mods folder in my sc2 install directory. :( Can so please help me Id really like to play this
oh yeah and other sc1 units don't appear right (e.g. the dragoon seems to appear as a sphere thingy and other units in the mod file)
help! mod doesn't seem to work...i got no music, no jim raynor (and other sc1 units talking) what i do wrong? is it the patch? i'm using 1.1.3...do i need to update? help! :( btw... awesome work you guys... :)
Hi! Sorry for my English, first, I'm from another country. I would like to congratulate you for the great job these two campaigns, was a nostalgic and well done. I wonder if you are receiving suggestions for future campaigns, both the original and the expansion Brood War And if you are, which site or forum I can put my suggestions. Thank you for these two remakes and I can not wait to play the protoss campaign.
