First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

On mission 4 if you try to load the game the camera is fixed (mouse is on screen instead of being able to change camera).
And Missions 1-6 are extremely easy. Then 7 hits and is like f7u12. Stupid cpu denying me access to resources.

I have noticed that the music goes off after I manually save the game
Yeah seriously, someone needs to find a solution... =P Sorry guys.
I Also have a problem with no music. Otherwise everything is OK. Anyone else got this problem? Has anyone found a solution?
BTW, thanks for the campaign, this is awesome! =)
Hi, I've got a problem.... there is no soundtrack when I play. Can somebody help me out in this matter please? The rest of the mod is working correctly. Good job!
I passed the campaign couple of weeks ago and i really liked it!Good work!I also passed through the Zerg campaign,so now i am waiting for the Protoss one.If you have any problems with the missions, ask and i will answer you.
It's not working for me. (I have a PC) I tried a lot of things, including redownloading everything, shutting down/restarting my computer, etc.
My mod folder and map files are in the right places. I have the "lose when a unit dies" problem and all of the units are SC2 standard.
I don't know if this will help, but I tried opening the maps using the editor and it says that it can't locate the mod dependency file, even though it's right in the Mods folder. That seems to be the root of the issue. Any ideas?
I'm having a lot of trouble with this. For some reason I automatically fail everytime a unit dies. Also Raynor/Overmind's portrait don't show up in the briefings or during the missions and the buildings are set to build default SC2 units. Any ideas?
Moving to the Overmind. Amazing, outstanding work. I am simply stunned from the amazing quality of everything.
Well, we left out the part of the original gameplay that lets you sleepwalk through the campaign. I understand that some people want to just kind of chill and enjoy the nostalgia while others think that the challenge adds to the fun. Personally, I'm with the latter. I do want to point out that while some maps are tough, I think they're fair in that there's no specific trick you need to pull to beat them; there are a lot of valid strategies. And you're allowed to make mistakes, none of the maps require flawless execution or anything. Having said that I also realize that what might be a fun challenge for others may be too much for some... so I guess we'll be adding some difficulty options, as Ultraling said.
And please people, if you have any technical difficulties check the troubleshooting page first, it's right there under "Troubleshooting". It's not much, but that's about all the answers we have for those particular questions right now. Also, read the instructions VERY carefully.
ranyz8:
Well that's a new one for me. Sorry. I'm tempted to just state that Galaxy Editor isn't the most stable piece of software around... I dunno, we'll probably have to see what can be done to optimize the maps at some point.
oh, and JoeyRAM:
Thanks for letting us know the saves work.
Hey, that would be nice, Ultraling! Looking forward to it.
Sure, you have to dial it up a bit in comparison to the original to make up for medics and autorepair, but not that much. Just make it "Hard" instead of "Brutal + +". :-)
Aw, don't lose heart, Stu. We'll be rolling out an easier setting for casual players later on. Sorry it couldn't come sooner.
@Fourbyracer: Go
SCVs: select them and right-click on "repair" to activate auto repair. (Auto repair is off by default in multiplayer too, whyever.)
Got the 3rd round to work. The tutorial and several other rounds have a glitch. Says "unknown trigger start error in gt.go.func" and also "gt.mapstart.func" but the file still plays. BUT, as soon as anyone (you or an enemy) dies, the game says raynor died (or whoever had to stay alive) and the game goes to the "defeat" screen. So that pretty much kills every map for me. I am running XP SP3 x32 and unfortunately the game is unplayable for me. Also game play glitch: SCV's no longer fix buildings automatically. Round 5 I believe (the first person round) forget it! Major glitches pop up on the screen of files that dont load right. Overall, fun to have new missions but pretty frustrating only to be able to play the maps that someone doesnt have to remain alive. Thanks for the work though.
Well, first I was absolutely delighted about this work. Now I'm disappointed. Why bother recreating the game and then turning difficulty up to an insane level? The idea should be to experience the original gameplay with the new graphics. This has nothing to do with original gameplay any more I'm afraid. Too bad. Such a lot of work has obviously gone into this, and it feels just like some custom game and not at all like the original. :-( I played it up to The Trump Card (skipping the 3rd person level which I felt was a total loss), and got stuck there.
