First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

Utterly SUPERB!
What an excellent idea! I was hankering after some SC1 action once I finished the SC2 campaign and to have it in all it's glory within SC2 is awesome!!! :)
There are a few rough edges here and there I notice myself and from reading the comments, but overall it's brilliant!!!!! :D
Thanks to Husky for pointing this out, otherwise I'd have not seen it - but with such an excellent piece of work, I feel loads more people need to experience it!
My only big issue with it is the Mission 4 - very difficult to manoeuvre around because of the camera moving into the wall a lot of the time or your friendly units blocking your exit from a corner. A mini-map would also be helpful too. In it's current incarnation, I'd prefer to use the original style for this mission but if some of these issues were fixed it'd be a lot nicer to play.
I've not played part 2 yet but am eagerly awaiting parts 3 and hopefully the Broodwar missions too! :)
the first 3 maps have been awesome but why is mission 4 a tps map? it is really bad. died a lot because of traps, couldn't find the exit, fighting is awful, the camera is inside doodads or other units half of the time
skipped this crap please release a regular version of it :(
weird...the music problem stopped happening during and after Mission 4...I assume it was because the music was FREAKIN' AWESOME enough to encourage all the other musics to play. Great work! It seems like an outdated version of MavericK's mod, but I don't give a $h!t. This mod is NOT to be missed.
First of all - really great work! I'm upto "The Trump Card" and it's been really smooth sailing up to this point.
A few thoughts/issues: - In mission 4, the camera following Raynor is a little too close - there are also some cillping issues with walls and other units. All in all though, I think it's a great third-person-shooter implementation using the SC2 engine - I've certainly not seen anything else as nice yet.
- After either mission 4 or 5 (4?), the mouse pointer wasn't visible on the success screen. The buttons on the bottom right don't have any mouse-over effect either, so it was almost impossible to continue (lots of clicking ensued :))
- In "The Trump Card", it's easy to accidentally get the initial SCV holding the "transmitter/terrazine" to return it to the CC, at which point the "transmitter/terrazine" disappears. Perhaps this ability could be removed from this SCV?
Looking forward to the next release!
I am having the same problem as kudlatytrue... it is VERY annoying.
In mission 4, when you load a game, camera freezes on one angle only. You can play, but camera is facing only one direction. (The direction you were looking when making a save)
Great think that you remake sc1 :) PS. FOr me works great no problem, waiting for episode 3 and maybe broodwar PS2. Anyway i think someone should do something about this mod becouse its great and Im mad that a lot of ppl dont even know about it , i think even post it to Blizzard and show the world this mod becouse its so great :D.
Sry for my english , i dont have good grama but i think you understand me :p
Anyway did it possible to change the map scale because its feel small and i have feelings that those remake campaigns are too hard .
@Jones313:
Thanks, although you may want to wait a few weeks. I have an excellent mapper working on some much-needed improvements to the first mission of Purity.
Again, loving your work on this.
Pretty cool port, thanks for making it. I just have a few questions:
Why did you use the Fallout 1 Soundtrack - Metallic Monks for most of the end-mission cinematics, especially later in the campaign? I don't think it really fits, especially since you use it over and over.
These maps seem much, much tinier than the originals. Did you look into the scale at all? If you just converted 128x128 map size SC1 to 128x128 SC2 that probably won't work; I think they've made every unit and building larger. Remember that the original game had a 2:1 isometric viewpoint, while in this game everything is square. Starting areas seem really, really cramped, and on Terran 1 - Mission 8 there's no longer ANY valid landing zone to place a command center at the top left expansion!
On a slightly related note, most of your camera bounds extend way too far out towards the map bounds. The camera should never be able to see any of the map bounds, but for instance in Terran 9 I can see the planet background at the bottom border of the map through what should be solid space platform.
Minor thing: it'd be nice if you put Kerrigan in the middle of the Zerg attack at the end of Terran 9 if she's not already there when it starts.
Bug found:
...No music D:
I'm running it on a Mac, everything else is fine, the sound effects are all there (except a few, like the marine shooting sound and the zergling death sound. Oh, and the zergling "swarm" movement isn't there, whereas they were in MavericK's SC2BW maps). If it wasn't obvious already, I checked the FAQ. :c
If you have any issues playing the maps, check the Troubleshooting FAQ before posting your problem. It's not much, but it's all we got at the moment.
DJBaker:
Hey thanks. I haven't gotten around to finishing your Purity of Form campaign yet (been a little busy) but from what I've seen it's quite amazing as well (apart from the localization issues I had).
Yeah, adding the talking animations could have been made a little easier in the editor. We'll get to it eventually.
VERY nice work with these missions.
This would be a lot of work, but I wonder if you might want to add speaking animation to the unit portraits. This can be done by clicking Modify Sound in the data editor and entering existing animations into the Facial Animation and Facial Group entries. The animation won't be synced with the speech, but it still looks pretty good most of the time.
Okay. Sorry about the technical difficulties, it's still not quite clear what's causing some of these issues. I'll try to put together some kind of a troubleshooting guide... hang in there.
SimplyCool:
Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated. Still a lot of things to be smoothed out and fixed, though... we'll probably focus on finishing the rest of the episodes before adding much more stuff in these. :)
Ok i find my first download of map and mod,all is perfect, good job.I hope u will make also protoss campaign and all brood war campaign
I try to drag the mission terran 01 into starcraft 2 but nothing the result not change beacause i haven't jim raynor, help me please, because my problem is alwais the same.see my previous post
Wtf when i open the map editor with map "Terran001" for example tell me that things "Can not find the dependency files (Mods \ SC1mod.SC2Mod)",and when i start naturally the game don't give me the unit jim raynor and i lose immediatly why?help please
Kerrigan and Raynor are having problem using their abilities, it apparently requires Research.
I cannot get this to work. The mod is in C:\Program Files\StarCraft II\Mods and the maps are in C:\Program Files\StarCraft II\Maps . But everytime I drag a map into SC2 it loads and then says Include file not found. And everything is all dark, most of the ground is missing and i cant control Raynor. What am i doing wrong?
Sorry if someone answered this already, but I couldn't find it. Has anyone figured out how to make this run on a Mac yet?
Hello,
I extracted and set up properly, I beleive, but when I drag into my .exe it opens and loads the game then says "Unable to launch game" and goes into my login screen...Any suggestions?
