First of all, huge thanks to Ultraling and Maverck for having done most of the work and making this campaign possible. Both of them were awesome about letting me use their stuff to put this thing together. These are originally Ultraling's maps, found here in sc2mapster. I picked them up a long time ago and slowly worked on them, editing terrain, adding all kinds of flavor here and there, including Maverck's Brood War mod, and this is the result.
Features
- all 10 original missions + the tutorial
- original SC1 units and structures with original stats, including custom models
- original SC1 Terran soundtrack
- all the dialogue, voice acting & other miscellaneous text from the original campaign
- classic unit decals, such as Alpha Squadron, Sons of Korhal etc.
"Artistic License"
(some notable differences from the original campaign)
- Medics - to balance out the units Brood War style, and to provide more options to the player
- extra "hero" abilities: Kerrigan has the snipe ability, Raynor can replenish Spider Mines
- Mission 4 "The Jacobs Installation" - third person mode (optional)
- two difficulty levels - with a somewhat more aggressive AI than in the original, in order to provide some challenge to the average player

How to play
- extract the mod file (SC1BWmod) to your "Mods" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (NOT the folder under "My Documents")
- extract the map pack to the "Maps" folder in your Starcraft 2 install directory (create the folder if it doesn't exist)
- extract the Campaign Launcher & setup to the same "Maps" folder (not the campaign folder)
Campaign Launcher installation:
- launch the Starcraft 2 editor
- open the setup map named SCMRsetup in your Maps folder and click the "test document" button on the top right (or press ctrl+F9)
- wait until the launcher loads and you're at the title screen, then save the game and exit the map (press esc or F10 to open the game menu)
- find the save file (named "Starcraft - Mass Recall" by default) in (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Saves/VersusAI
- copy or move the save file to the saves folder under your account folder (your home/documents folder)/Starcraft II/Accounts/.../.../Saves/Multiplayer (for example; any of the save folders will do)
- Done! You can now log into the appropriate account and load the save from the load game-screen. You can use this save to play each episode.
more info:
- You can copy the save file to whatever accounts you want. For example, if you want to play offline, copy it to your guest account folder.
- If you're unsure of the right folders or can't find the Starcraft II documents folder, log into an account of your choice in SC2, go to the load game-screen, click on a save and click the "show in folder"-button. It will take you to the appropriate saves folder.

@wOlfLisK
Yea i've put it there then what do i do? i can't drag the maps onto the sc2 shortcut.
@Lossendal: Make sure to put the SC1mod.SC2Mod file into your mod folder (Not sure of the path for mac. In Windows it's in the install directory -> Mods folder)
@xoyeahx Assuming you are using Windows, double-click the zip file and click 'Extract all files' at the top. Extract the maps to anywhere you like(make it easy to find. Your sc2 install path/Maps would be good). Make sure to place the mod file into your sc2 mod folder (Generally C:\Program Files (x86)\Starcraft II\Mods. If you are using a 32 bit windows, remove the (x86) part). Then open the SC2 GE (In your SC2 install folder), open the map and click 'Test Document' (Control+F9).
hi im not very good with computers. and i don't know what "extract the map package to the maps folder means. can someone help me?
Hi does this work on Mac? i've tried opening it on the map editor and it says it can't load the dependencies. and also i've tried using mapcraft. doesn't work. and i can't drag the map to the sc2 app. Could someone help me on this?
For some reason during the mission levels I have no music playing. It is a very minor issue and doesnt bother me much, was just curious though if someone knew how to fix it or if there was a way to. Love the remake otherwise
I've always wanted to actually finish the SC1 campaign, but I bought SC2 and I haven't been able to go back to the mechanics of SC1. So, thanks for making this!
That might indeed be cool. Probably won't happen at least until the third episode is out, though. But yeah, as long as it doesn't add too much extra loading time, I'm liking the idea.
How about making some kind of "menu map" that allows you to select campaign and map? I think that would be cool.
xSun:
If you put the mod file in a subfolder, it just means the maps won't locate it, hence no Raynor etc. So "unable to launch map" basically means the mod fails to load for some reason. I'm sorry, I don't know why this happens for some people. I can't do much about it until I figure that out, at least. ...Did you try MapCraft?
mavfin87:
A) Okay, cool.
B) The AI should attack either side randomly. Either you just got really lucky, or this is the most random issue so far, so to speak.
C) Pfft, the files are barely holding together. But thanks. =P
A) I'm running this fine on a Mac w/o Mapcraft. I do have to 'wiggle some keys' sometimes to start the first file I run in a session but otherwise it's great.
B) In Terran03, did you really mean to only attack the left side of the player's defenses? Everything from both point 3 and point 3 copy is going to the left side. I changed it to send the right spawns to the right side of the player's position.
C) I love the conversion. Keep up the great work!
D) and yes, the U-238 shells isn't working, but I won't get all wound up about it. These things happen.
Hi Jones.
I seem to have the same problem as Elezdar. Even the Raynor Portrait is not showing in the briefing.
If I put the mod-file just inside the mod-folder I'm unable to launch the map. If I put it inside an folder with the same name inside the mod-folder (as all the other mods are handled) I can play it, but with the Raynor-problem.
I really hope there's a solution to this! :/
navialivad:
A little late, but did you try MapCraft?
Kakrafoon:
Happy Sausage Day! Firebats, hmm. Comes with Maverck's mod, but yeah they're meant to have this SC1 look, Starcraft 2 Firebats kinda feel a little too "mech" to me, you know?
Like Johnny said, some (hopefully not too many) upgrades and other "buttons" just broke after the patch for no particular reason. The mod is currently not in my hands so to speak, as it's being developed for future episodes (!) so I can't give you much of an ETA. I will continue trying to fix any map-related problems as best I can.
leasogameas:
:)
ok this is fun fun fun, cant wait for all six episodes
Probably caused by Patch 1.3.
Great, great work. The Terran SC1 campaign in SC2's slick 3D engine.. like Christmas, Easter and Sausage Day all rolled into one. I'm having some trouble adjusting to the changed unit sizes (I know Firebats were smaller in SC1, but the Rebel Yell Firebats seem downright puny, given that they are still wearing the "large" power armour suits).
Everything seems to be working allright, except for my favourite upgrade: U-238 shells from the Academy. When I click to research it, 100 gas and minerals are deducted from my resources, and the research bar starts up, but the "U238"-button doesn't disappear from the Academy research choices, and I can spend the 100/100 again and again - but nothing happens. The only thing that seems to change is that the Marines get their combat shields after the first research run. Am I missing something here?
I cant run it, it gives me an error message when the game starts. It says "unable to lunch"
Muspelli:
Always nice to hear someone enjoyed the remake. Glad you also liked the third-person view map, it's one of the things that could be done better, for sure. And yeah, the black looks pretty good on Omega.
Interesting thought about the UED models. I don't particularly like the War Pig model, with the bayonet and the Samus Aran helmet, but I'll keep that idea in mind (In case I ever get to do any of the Brood War campaigns). As for the Queen, you know, I was getting a headache trying to figure it out. Maybe I just didn't know what I was doing, but the data editor feels a little random, especially after the patch (it also crashed on me a few times). I'll give it another shot.
I don't see myself making the Enslavers campaign, at least until all six "main" campaigns are out, but you never know.
Deraygaga:
See Episode 2 comments. (I basically replied "awesome!")
Hi
I Just want to let your GREAT guys knew that me and some firend localized Terran and Zerg to Traditional Chinese.
Here is the Link for Chinese Version Download: http://0rz.tw/2QV3G
And this is Chinese forum that follow about your mods: http://0rz.tw/yJ76h
Can't wait the Protoss Chapter and Brood War.
This is really impressive. I'm just about finished Rebel Yell and will be starting The Overmind soon after.
The attention to detail is really nice, for example Omega Squadron being their canonical black, as opposed to brown like in the original. The third-person installation missions were a nice touch, as well. Until The Overmind's release a couple days ago, I was hoping it would continue; glad to see it is.
Just a couple bits of feedback/suggestions.
The UED is supposed to be more technologically advanced. Given the bulkier, more sophisticated looked of the mercenary units (the War Pigs in particular), would it be possible to have the UED units use those models? War Pigs for marines, Spartan company for Goliaths, et cetera.
As for the Queen issue. Could it be the use of the Swarm Guardian? I recall in 'Norad II', the enemy Queens would move around if attacked, and would use spells. I also know that the Swarm Guardian model is unselectable, though I believe that can be changed. That may have something to do with it.
Is there any chance of ports of the Enslavers campaigns, or the two hidden Terran missions?
Once again, really grateful for all the work put into this project. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
Elezdar:
Okay. I guess it's established then that your files are in fact in the right place. If you launch, say, mission 2 "Backwater Station", is Raynor there? He should be right there on his Vulture when you start the map. If he's not there, the map somehow can't locate/utilize the mod file, and treats every unit on the map as Raynor, which is why your mission fails. If Raynor is in fact there, then I don't know what's going on. Also, have you tried, let's say, mission 3 "Desperate Alliance"? There's no "hero" units in that mission, so it should be playable for you if I'm assuming correctly.
As for a solution, I can't offer you much. What you could do is try launching the maps using MapCraft. If that doesn't work, you could make the maps at least somewhat playable by opening them with the editor, finding the trigger which causes you to lose when Raynor/whatever critical unit is killed, and deleting/disabling it, and then just playing without the mod. It would probably kind of suck and cause all kinds of issues, but I can't think of a reason as to why the mod file refuses to work for you. Sorry.
