"REVOLUTION" -Remake SC1-
Chapter_5: "REVOLUTION" _Remake SC1_ bĂȘta version.
-Original fitfh Terran mission scenario from SC1, with all dialogues and features.
-Only original units, with the old tech tree. I bet you will start to feel back in the old days, with the apparition of the wraith, the dropship, Kerrigan ect...
-Also, lot of added stuff, especially cinematics and secondary objectives.
-More difficulty.
-Known problems: -some dialogues during the game just do not want to work, I don't get why. -some bugs still, it is not the real final version. -I didn't manage to fix Kerrigan's Lockdown button. -Sometime the AI does strange things. -This is my second map, so please don't be too harsh!
So, try it if you want, and please tell me what you think about it!
Anyone know how to tone down the AI? I keep getting my A$$ handed to me. :(
GREAT JOB!!!!
Thank you about the terrain, that was exactly what I was looking for! I will see what I can do about the Wraiths plans. And I uploaded again the Desperate Alliance file, if it does not work, I couldn't do anything better.
It's not too late to change the "steal the wraith plans" to "Assassinate the confederate officers", It fits in with the story better. But as I said before excellent work with the terrain and layout, it's both pretty and reminiscent of the original at the same time.
I tried to test your other map (Remake of Desperate alliance) but it was an incomplete file, you never uploaded it properly. that is if you want thorough constructive feedback on that like I gave you before.
Well thank you very much, and yes my game is in French, it annoys even me, I far prefer the English voices!
So yeah, I tried once again, and it seemed like I downloaded the wrong version or something, 'cause it worked the secound time I tried it...anyhow!
Ain't got much to say about the map, beside that, just like your version of "Desperate Alliances", is that it beats the original version. I've not completed the map yet, as I've not had time, but so far so good!
I do have one thing to...I guess you can call it complaign (?), and that would be the French voices that's being used. But I guess you've got a French version of the Original game or something along those lines.
All in all: Goo' stuff, keep it up!
Ok, it would then be a good idea to add normal difficulty, and let's say this version is the hard one. The Confederates had a limited amount of Goliath, and they just throw at you a couple of marines every ten minutes in the original scenario. I wanted to add fun and stress, I guess I added too much... It seemed easy to me, but strangely I knew everything that would happen :)
About the Wraith thing, the idea was to push the player to use Kerrigan's character and abilities in some kind of little infiltration mission, in spite of putting her in a bunker and wait untill the end. And as the rebellion just starts growing, I thought this would not be such a bad idea to steal technologies from the Confederacy to build an army, but you'r right I might lack distance. Your idea of the minigame is maybe better, but I don't have the time to remake the entire map, too late for me!
Thank you for your feedback, and by the way, did you try my other remake of the third Terran mission?
Amazing terrain work and detail, but the added objective of stealing the wraith plans doesn't quite fit the story or go well with the whole remake. The aggressive AI and being on the defensive isn't fun. It also makes it too hard because you can't strike back until you've got the plans, but you can't get the plans because you're managing your defensive of a huge base. That's under attack from every angle with no ability to retaliate until you get air units yourself, Hard is one thing, but that just isn't fun.
What you could have done is a Mini-game where you play as Kerrigan during that sequence where she kills the Commissar (that sequence in the original SC was boring). If you wanted to add an additional objective to make it less boring I'd suggest that instead of stealing the wraith plans.
I should also mention, the confederates only had a fixed amount of Goliaths they couldn't replace.
Hello, first, thank you for your feedback! Hm, 20 Goliaths at once is sure a lot, I don't remember having seen such a thing while trying the map, buy my triggers are so messy that this doesn't surprise me... I tried hard though to make something credible...
About the bonuses, I didn't think about real rewards I admit, except a large warmth in the heart at the idea that you saved people from a certain death XD. I might add some different endings, if you fulfilled the secondary objectives or not, as I did for my previous map.
About the Wraith thing, you mean Kerrigan's lockdown ability? Well that is not pretty but you have to click on the ability as I couldn't figure out how to do a hotkey for that. If it is about the doors which are close or the beacon disappearing, it is that you let someone sound the alarm. You'll have then to wait 2 minutes for that everything returns to normal and try the mission again. If not, it's a damn bug again! Did I answered your question?
Don't look too close at the triggers, It is by magic that they are holding out! I am a real noob with the editor, and everything I do is try to patch things, there is no real logical in lot of them.
About the difficulty, I was afraid that it would be too easy, but I'm glad you find it a bit hard! Also in the original campaign the Confederacy is always a step ahead in technology, (that's why they have Goliaths by the way). I wanted the map to be kind of challenging, but I'll maybe let the ameliorations on 1:1 you are right.
Amazing work in the recreation. The beach was very well done, unfortunately the attack waves at the front entrance need some work, as I got to a point where there were about 20 Goliaths dropped at once (Probably cumulative, I was attempting bonus objectives and my macro is non-existant) Your imagination did this map justice, regardless. The bonus objectives were very well thought out and incorporated incredibly well aesthetically, but the rewards were hardly worth the effort. Two bunkers at the first, with a fully tech'd Goliath guarding it just to earn 3 Marines and a Firebat was pretty rough.
Unfortunately I didn't understand the trigger for the lockdown near the Wraith research are so I was left completely clueless there, failing pretty bad trying to solo Bunkers and such. I'm sure the triggers are there somewhere though, and look forward to seeing/figuring out how you executed them.
I was also looking through the triggers, specifically the harass expo, and I must be missing something, but it seems like it would just keep piling on the dropships, I don't see a kill command nor a kill location for them. They also appear to spawn dangerously close to the teleport point Goliaths_left. Don't answer this until I check it. :P Edit: Tried to trigger it, but was too hard to maintain my home base. Nova died while low on energy ;( Oh yeah, definitely up her energy regen.
I don't remember the Confederacy tech-ing in the original map, maybe on Very Hard, but with the amount of preordained units given to the Confederacy in your map, I would definitely suggest stripping their tech abilities. The Goliaths were gods.
"Can't load map" or something like that, and as I tried to start it up via the editor I just get some error message.
Here it is!
