Hybrid Evolution

Game Description:

While you, a small group of Special Forces, are exploring an ancient Protoss temple, one of you mutate to a hybrid of Terran, Protoss and Zerg. Would you survive this? Or would the hybrid spread the virus to the entire ing world?

Best For 6-12 Players

At the start, one of the player will be chosen as the hybrid randomly. His destiny is the elimination of all other players. No one else know the true identity of the hybrid, because his marine just look like other marines.

Using his morph ability: "hybrid power", he can tranform a player into hybrid by killing the player with melee attacks. Other cause of deaths could give the dead player the ability to control countless dark protoss units.

Using the ability borrow, hybrid can avoid sensor tower detection, and move under barracks.

Meta gaming:

Hybrid don't have the power to fight against 2-3 players directly, he need to separate them. His first advantage, is his unknown identity. He can use it to build base inside other player's base, make traps or just turn player against each other. This means a lot of mind games.

After everybody knows the hybrid's identity , he need his second advantage: his mobility. Ability like blink, scan give him spiderman-like movement. He can use it for infiltratiton, escape. With burrow he can run under other units or even structures, avoid damage from dark protoss.

For other player, we have also 2 aspect of gaming: Guess who is the hybrid, and the base defense part againt dead players. Terrain and building placement are very important, beside sight over high ground and killing creep tumor.

The dead players are not always killed by the hybrid. We want to give them the chance for revenge. By selecting hostile units, dead player gain control of them. His ultimate weapon is the coloss, which must be build by the hybrids. Coloss dont have the normal range, but it make more damage to building then normal. This is the key to break heavy terran defence.

Chalenge for Developer

The main Chalenge for me is hiding the identity of hybrid. Because u can't hide the owner of single unit and let other building look like normal, i need to change his owner to X. Edit shared control i was able to give the control back. But this is not the optimal solution. Because 2 hybrid could share control, even if they don't want it.

Other chalenge is help newbie to learn this game fast. We have objectives and a lot of tactical helps(F12), even green hint in the centre of the screen. But it is still very hard to teach players "read the funny manual". :D

A noob hybrid could make the game less fun, so if the first hybrid die too soon we revote that. If the first hybrid don't do anything, I mean killing or cloning, we will kill him after 20min.

Help needed

I think this game could also be popular on other server. So I may need someone upload this game and push it. Translation could also be helpful. I will test this translation addon from sc2mapster.

I want to create a fast micro-oriented asymmetrically balanced game with long time motivation.
