The Hunger Games by Fenix
The goal is to be the last player alive, so you have to kill everyone. The catch is, you're in the Hunger Games arena and some special events will occure provoking deaths... and more than this, you have energy. You must eat to survive longer. To eat, you have to find food by moving around into the arena. As the game goes on, more events will occurs and the survivability will be harder.

Well, this kind of map was made a long time ago by someone but never got updated at all recently and the arena is not quite fun. So, I'm trying to push it futher more with inventory, hunting animals for food drop, random sponsors events, random arena events every few minutes in a hour-like fashion just like the 2nd movie... I'm really just in the beginning of the developpement, if only I was better in the Data it would go faster... I got the terrain, some data and some triggers. I'm all for new ideas of arena events. If anyone wishes to help me that would be crazy nice. I'm all open to suggestions.
This is not meant to be "the most popular map on battle.net" as of course it's NOT a super action game, it's more likely search and destroy with a survival add. I really want to complete at least one project and if this is the one, I don't ask more :D
Little note: A player will have a unit with 100 HP and 100 Energy. It slowly lose energy. If you run out of energy you lose HP. To get energy you must eat.
So far I want it to be playable up to 16 players.
- There will be 8 Arena Events in eatch hour slice
- There will be a bunch of Major Events like good items spawning in the middle, water rising high, night lasting twice longer, etc.
- There will be a bunch of Minor Events like sponsor items based on player's need like if he needs energy or life or a bow or whatever... Beach becoming much more sticky reducing movement speed...
- There will be animals to hunt and get food from. I'll try to add other way to get eatable items.
- The units will not have any auto-attack. It will be up to the players to use abilities on others in order to kill them. This allows the have some "ally" but in the end, there will always have 1 winner...except if... the rules change during the game :D
- One day will last 8 game times minutes so 4 min with bright light 4 min with dark light. Probably different effect also like reducing vision range during night.
- Because SC2 supports only 16 players, the hours are devided into 8 slices instead of 12.
- This said, there will always be 2 slices active per hour. Eatch hour lasts 60sec. So all events will occur at least once per half day. Don't be at the bad place at the bad time...
- Also, I want the camera control to make the players forget what is the north-south-east-west and forces them to notice the events and find out where will be the next one. So the camera will folow your only unit and you will be able to move around the camera with the middle mouse button. The only problem here is the lag issue for low end computer as this map is big with alot of doodads.
So far as Arena Events I have / will have / maybe have:
- -Poison cloud like in the movie (kind of)
- -Psy storm randomly cast over the active slice
- -Random zerglings unborrowing and attacking near players.
- -Super heat zone where the player lose energy and slow movement speed
- -Hallucination zone where the player in that zone will see other "fake" players moving around, maybe hallucinated zerglings, nukes, trees moving...
- -Fire zone where fires would start poping everywhere and if a players get in fire it lose HP.
- -A zone with alot of animal that start to attack in mass
- -Players in a zone will be greatly slowed and revealed allowing other players to get closer...
- -A zone where you can't stop moving or you lose alot of energy / HP
The Major Events:
- -Sea rising high
- -Fills the middle with goods
- -All players are revealed during the next hour (60sec)
- -Slow time, the next hour last twice long (120sec)
- - 4 Zones are active at once
- -A giant monster walks around in the forest
- -Random nukes fall in the arena
- -All sectors effects are mix-up
- -All sectors effects are extremly emplyfied
The Minor Events:
- -Random items created in the arena
- -Random animals to hunt and eat
- -Random items falling next to a player
- -The beach becomes super sticky slow movement speed considerably
- -Random players get greater vision/movement speed/bonus dmg
Since I joined the Star Party dev team, all my skills and time go into that. My maps will wait for now.
Actually it's a bit more than a week, but whatever. I worked on my Moonbase Commander remake which is getting pretty nice. It's close to "playable" but not "fun" at all at the moment.
Taking a week or so off. I'll get back on the map soon.
Added few stuff, keep working on arena events. Once that is done, that will be great / playable.
Added a better intro with camera movement and countdown sounds.
Thank to Hobbidude for a great start into the trigger. That will really help on this side.

I don't expect to make the game focussed on crafting. It's more about survival / killing the other players. If you want a crafting survival, kobold tribes is perfect for you. :)
What I'm making is more an inventory base on you finding items and beeing lucky and get some randomly.
And david, there is no download yet as I'm working on the map... when it will be ready, it will be ready. ;)

Just read about your map and I have an idea that could add some fun, An item combination system. Here is how it would work, make all the doodads units with loot of what they are (ex: tree drop wood, rock drop stone) then have a crafting system where you can combine items to make something (ex: wood +stone + stone = sword and stone +wood +stone = pickaxe) but too break resources you will need the right tool (each player starts with a crappy axe to break wood and make more stuff or have axes at random points), this would make more strategies possible for players to try. if you are interested I made a system like this based on Thefreaklord's that check for item position in a certain bag, the only problem is I never tested it to see if lags but I don't think it should

Added 2 defensive items and another food type with 50% chance to poison yourself.
Added 1 song that will play at the beginning for more epicness. I'm suprised that the map only weight 2-3Mo.
Trying to set up arena events.
Ok so little update. I've been working recently on the inventory. So far I have:
3 types of food to regen energy overtime
3 type of heal to regen life overtime
A bow to be able to cast Arrow
Arrow to be able to cast Arrow
I'll be adding some more items and weapons. Then work on the arena events. After that it would be technically playable. But will still have alot of work coming up.
