Hellion Blitz
Follow Development down to the details on Twitter at https://twitter.com/hellionblitz
Hellion Blitz will come packaged with two Maps originally.
Hellion Garage - A side map that when opened has your Hellion and it will rotate, you can choose a color scheme and texture/decal for your Hellion, then when saved it will automatically load on any Hellion Blitz maps.
Hellion Blitz Race Alpha - The first release of Hellion Blitz will be a race map that is currently unnamed. More details on this map will surface when the time comes. Any changes to your Hellion in the Garage will appear in this.
Summary:
Hellion Blitz is a racing battle game that takes place across a variety of maps. The game itself has a variety of game modes (each their own individual map) and a variety of tracks available. The race is no normal race by any means, as you're blasting your way through your foes trying to get to the front of the pack they'll be unleashing everything in their arsenal to stop you.
Every track will come with its own series of hazards and bonuses, will you try to squeeze through that ramp and hope none of your foes shove you into the lava, or will you boost ahead and drop a mine at the tip of it, waiting for some unsuspecting foe to run into it? The strategies and choices are endless as you race around the track.

whats the zombie file for?
If you've seen there are game variants you can edit outside of game before you host. I intend to have various game types (Arena being the start at first, then Race, eventually Team-based games, maybe a CTF, Pursuit (one person is a heavier vehicle trying to hit the end of an area before the others destroy him), King of the Hill, the list is endless possibly)
Basically when you are destroyed and your health runs out, you will respawn, this ruins your acceleration and can put you behind pretty seriously in a race. A host can actually choose if you have Lives in a Race or Arena match (so you can eliminate players out of Race or in Arena Mode, on top of the normal victory conditions of cross the finish line or get so many kills)
Weapons will play a primary role, you're trying to damage your opponents and blow them up so you can get ahead of them, but as you kill other players they start to hate you and will start returning fire. Tools will be your primary "gtfo" items that will help you get away from foes and possibly give you the edge you need to win a race or arena.
The camera in the game is based on a starting camera and then locked to the unit, so you have to copy my camera as well from the map.
Very interesting.
I noticed there is a health bar, so I assume you can be destroyed. Is this only for the arena portion? Will you have X amount of lives, or will you have infinite lives and just have it be "Who gets the most kills" ??
How will the health and weapons affect racing?
Lots of questions dude I know, but I am very curious.
I have copied your entire list of triggers into a new map just so I can drive around, but the camera angle is the normal SC2 camera angle. I drop a Hellion for P1 on the map and I can drive it around and the camera follows it, just not at the angle yours does, any tips on how to fix that?
I'm going to need some awesome race tracks and arenas later on, when I get the basic engine done I'll be happy to take some submissions, with credit of course =P
The Computer Racers were put in for environment stuff, and the reason they go so slow is because the acceleration code doesn't work for them. I'll modify it later and either give them a competitive base speed or something.
Mouse Move I'll have to disable, its on the list, I just keep forgetting about it.
The actual aiming will be mouse-pointer centric, so you'll aim with your mouse and fire with your mouse.
Hey it is looking really good man :)
Couple things I noticed: -Computer racers occasionally stop driving, I THINK it is because they were trying to turn and I forced them off the track sort of? So maybe they exited the region controlling them. -Computer racers basically go very slow. -Using the mouse to just tell your unit where to go was more accurate and could potentially make the game too easy, possibly disabling it would be good. If you plan on adding projectile or something that you target, perhaps the powerups/weapons could be made to auto target the closest target in front of you. -Talk to a couple of the guys making the physics engines, having big jumps would be awesome!
If you want help creating possible racing maps, I'm really looking to get into this community and help out on something, so I'd love to start making terrain! If you are looking for a helping hand for the generalized non-trigger area I would love to help! I really like it so far man, GJ!
Rock N' Roll Racing is a game by blizzard for the SNES, and it is badass! Basically its a racing game where you can collect money on the track, get money for winning.doing well in a race, then upgrade your vehicle between races with weapons/engine parts and what not. You can get rockets, lasers, mines and oil slicks and probably more that i am forgetting about.
Nope, moreso this is based on Mario Kart or Blur primarily, but it does have some influences from Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8.
and no I haven't played Rock and Roll Racing.
I've had a similar idea - basically Twisted Metal.
Also, another idea was a recreation of Rock N' Roll Racing, every play it?
