Desperate Alliance: Revisited
Synopsis:
A re-envisioned campaign mission from the original Starcraft. Zerg forces are massing and encroaching on the position of your base. Can you survive the swarm for 30 minutes until rescue arrives?
Features:
-Choose from 3 distinct difficulty settings: Easy, Normal, or Hard.
-Battle randomly organized and increasingly difficult AI waves that specifically target weak points in your defense.
-Adapt to a limited tech tree (no lift-off ability and nothing beyond hellions) against a fully-teched Zerg army.
-Receive periodic siege tank reinforcements for staying in the fight.
-Use careful tactics to overcome this extremely challenging scenario.

Based on your feedback we have varied the attack point of Zerg air units and set the game speed to 'Faster' for those who didn't have that preference set by default.
@Wunterwaffen - We are going to keep easy difficulty where it is. This is mainly because us at phantomtap.com believe that it is ridiculously easy and does not present a challenge. But lucky for you, there are two more difficulties for you to explore if you feel frisky. :)
Pretty good, but really tough even on easy. The original transmission with the vulture would be nice too. I'll upload that and other lines today.
Please change default speed to fastest.. i can't open in editor.
UPDATE: did it, you have to fight on high ground like pic 2 shows and block with pf
ah and some more story like sounds of org camp would be nice ^!
NICE! i remember that i played org 6 month ago and kill the zerg on hole map 14 min before timer runs out oo
so this version is not like the org. its bedder! but ..... i suck. 4 plan for are not enough in middle .... only rine bunker cant hold it . i try something new now until i beat it. looks like you fixed all bugs they atack both side even if you walloff but 1 problem mutas allways come on same place they should atack right too.
great work !
good ol' times. nice map.
would recommend putting a cheats trigger. like you know "Show me the money" or "Black sheep wall".
Thanks for the feedback guys.
@Dreathean - Thanks! Glad you liked it.
@Wristface - Good catch. We'll look into the effects of walling off one side and defending the other and see what we can do about it. We're also looking to add a few difficulty settings to make it more accessible/replayable.
@Darkexecutioner - Feeling trapped is part of the effect we're after. We wanted to recreate the way it felt playing the original level when we younger and not necessarily how it actually played. With moderate skill you could clear the surrounding area in the original, but we wanted to create a feeling of entrapment/desperation.
Also, we're looking into the balance of the Planetary Fortress. We realize it's an easier option to stack and repair them and will make appropriate changes to it soon.
Whew. Beat it on my first try. Very intense haha, was fun. Nice timing on running out of the minerals and stuff. Lol @ last level =D
Just finished it, almost stopped the last wave too :)
However, if you completely wall off one side, units stop coming that way all together, and you can just focus on one side.
Pretty good map, defiintly harder then the original. In the orignal I just massed marines and cleared out the map, and didnt really have to, you know, defend.
Ya its pretty cool, but I liked the original better, I felt trapped in my base, also with 2 planetary fortresses at each choke with 3 scvs to repair them stopped all attack waves but the last one, the last one being, well you know. I think this needs to be fine tuned a little more. Its good but not great.
Thanks for catching that. We're not sure how it happened, but it's fixed now.
I have found out that I am unable to build any more Hellions, After checking the Data Editor, it seems the "Factory - Train" is not associated with a command, and in this case, a unit.
I usually start out building both SCV's AND marines. To optimally mine each mineral node you eventually want 3 SCV's per node. I've had the most success in this map overall using a mix of marines, hellions, bunkers, and planetary defense while keeping things repaired. It's tough though; you have to figure out a mix that works well for you.
Wow that was hard, I only lasted 9 minutes. With the 500 crystals, are u suppose to build a lot of SCV, marines, or a bit of both?
