About
The War Series will be a variety of cinematics about the zerg attacking and destroing terran towns until....*Wait to see*
The first cinematic its called "The Evacuation" Suggestions/Ideas and feedback are apreciated.
Not bad :P I know how it is long to make just a short cinematic like you did here.
First about, I want you to know that you are better than me in the editor.... xD But! My cameras are better made.
There is a strange kind of montage. I don't know if it is that good but anyway, still under construction.
I've notice that your cameras are too fast and stop too long. If you look at a movie, the camera is always never stopped, always in movement, even if it is really small moves.
So, to do something better, try to make the camera move slower, and/or put more camera.
As a personnal trick that I've discovered by myself, I make the next camera start befor the end of the first. Ex: Apply the camera for player over 4.0 sec. I'll add after a wait of 3.0 sec. So while the camera is still moving, the next one start. If you lets the default thing after the seconds in the trigger, the camera will slide a little bit while changing to next one. It will make it more fluid.
Think to the distance you put between eatch camera. If you try to apply always the same time for every camera, it will not always work caus they are not always at the same distance. This is by testing it ingame that you will see if it looks correct or not.
For the terrain, you must take care of what you see through the editor and through the game; it is not always the same thing. You will probably place the camera while you see only as viewport in the editor something like 800x700. But ingame, it possibly bigger.
You should make the terrain be beautiful everywhere, even if you don't see it through the camera. During a changement between two cameras, there could be a small spot where the terrain is not that great... When you look at 17 sec, you can see the unfinished terrain.
Also, in this video, the falls flash o O. I don't know why, but this bug must be fix if you want a perfect video :P
I don't know why you put a seperation like this in your video at 30 sec. I know that the "free" Fraps program records only the first 30sec or 29, not sure... xD But you shouldn't do this kind of transition. It's pretty weird and it's not even changing the angle of view, or the what's happening... It's just a "transition caus my video ended here" xD
Also, take care of the air collision while making units move... Like at 45 sec the mutalisk and the cargo stacked...
I love the idea and the way you made the kind of indoors with the boards and the flashing cables.
From 55sec to the end, it's pretty weird, the camera move to fast and stop too long. There are some poping-up building from the fog of war, etc.
There is a work with the lighting, not that bad. But at start you make it change, and all the rest of the video you keep the same light. Notice that I don't know how long will be your cinematic; possibly that you make it change back or something...
As a last thing, notice the black background! You should fix that... caus when you look with an angle of view like at the end, it's not the best thing... As I can see, you used the Bel'Shire environment. I don't know if it's because you changed the textures thought. If I'm right, then you should know that Bel'Shire have a background. To make it appear through the editor, press control + mouse scroll back until it appear. (Something I also discovered alone by accident while making the terrain)
I'm someone that love making videos. My youtube account is scbroodsc2. What you can see on it is Only, starcraft videos that I've made. I did some for sc2 at the moment, and I want to do many more once I will be able to do so. Able here mean when I will have the time, and the knowledge with the editor. Caus there is alot of things that I don't know how to do, like you did, the falling Zerg strange purple eggs. Take a look to my channel if you wish. If you have any question, want me to explain something more, or you don't understand what I wrote, please, say it, mp me, what ever.
I hope this will help, I don't know how far you are in your video from this one... And, um, continute ! I encourage you (So you will help me later... *demoniac hahahaha*)
I want to know what you used to save your video. Fraps records pretty well, but the files that it creates are pretty big... So you probably saved it with something after the records to do in addition the montage. I use windows movie maker, but it really sucks. xD The video lose alot of it definition, it gets pixilised after the saving. Your video have the option to play at 1080 px, what I don't have for my videos (and what I could want.... xD)
