THE Card Game
http://www.revolutionalarts.com
THE Card Game is the map with a tons of different cards and tactics. No two matches play an exactly same as this map gives edge for players who counter smartly. As you've probably noticed, this project is a visual representation of a playing card game, within the world of StarCraft.
Play it in Arcade Beta, US and EU. US version is most outdated one however and is not officially supported but works.
Officially supported in the EU!
I like the change to medivac. Wanna see a lot more cards though for variety and making rare cards more rare. Also make broodlord a bit more rare, those things are unstoppable in large numbers (as is what happens in every single game for the 6v6, which is pretty intense). The Nuclear strike pops up like never, so that basically once a team gets the lead on the other, it'll stay that way. Pretty much no way to counter that. Thor actually isnt to strong for requiring 70 gas lol, wtb more beef =P haha. Perhaps make a chain lightning card, so that you could target say 3 units in particular or so. So many possibilities for more cards, and cool rare ones. Like making a shockwave that starts from your base in a line to the other dealing like 2 dmg, so that it could kill some but otherwise harm everything else thats out there (enemies only). You have plenty of units left to make cards with, don't need to list them all =P
Is this not the exact same as Cardcraft SC? Or am I mistaken?
Hey, I really like these kind of maps so I would love to tell you some things to improve on.
- As a long term goal it would be great if you could differentiate at the start what kind of "deck" you get to play with. So maybe Terran, Zerg, or Protoss. This brings up balance issues but would create a massive replay as well as multiplayer value. - Team games can be made with multiple Planetary Fortresses on each side. So 2v2, 3v3, etc. - The cards are a little bit too high, it would be great (not sure if it's possible) to put them down where the HUD normally is. - More spells such as Nuke would be great. Perhaps also targetting.etc rather than just "affect all units" spells. - As someone mentioned earlier, more cards! This is probably the easiest addition to the game if you already have a running platform.
Individual Unit Gripes - The aforementioned Ghost issue is good, and shouldn't be fixed in my opinion. It forces the opponent to get an answer (eg. zerglings). Also, once the ghost starts shooting at a building it doesn't change targets (ever). - Hydralisks damage bonus in melee is at the moment rather useless as it kills all units that attack in melee in one hit anyway. - Medivacs heal only Broodlings it seems. Also in a game like this where a lot of units have very little HP, medivacs make very little sense.
Overall this is an awesome game type and I miss it from Warcraft 3. More spells would be excellent as well as a deck choice at the beginning. These are all probably difficult to implement but it will make this map superb!
Keep up the awesome work, The Rat
Mmm, pretty fun. Can't wait for there to be a good deal more cards though, and would it be possible to slightly increase the rate of mineral gain (cards being obtained and stuff) to make it a faster paced game? Gets really slow at some parts.
Use StarCraft II.exe as launcher for map.
it says Unable to load file (Core: file not found): ComponentList.SC2Components
This is kinda fun, but it doesn't seem to be localized for the US yet so I can't read any of the cards, etc. Hopefully that'll get fixed eventually as it seems like a pretty fun map.
How did you make your map un editable :o (locked)
They really should put a section here telling people how to open SC2Map files, because although it's really simple to do, nowhere do they tell people how to do it, and it's really not so self-explanatory.
To open any SC2Map file (at least for Windows), drag-and-drop the map file onto Starcraft2.exe or its shortcut.
Oh, and nice map. :)
I liked the mechanics a lot, but there's this one thing that kinda makes me a little frustrated.
Here's what happened: I saw the AI sending a ghost, so I sent 2 in a row, they both walked for around 5 seconds, then when they were both in each other's firing range, the AI's ghost killed off BOTH of my ghosts.
You should do something to neutralize this ghost-to-ghost encounter. ;)
Great map though, too bad that guy forgot to put you on the news. :(
Launch it via StarCraft II.exe instead via editor.
download says its missing something
