What I meant before wasn't supposed to be confusing,
in the real Starcraft/Broodwar the lair's wire frame/icon matches the hive's sprite and vice versa. In other words the lair and hive have had mixed up wireframes that don't fit their graphics since the beta of Starcraft and it hasn't been fixed once. So to capture the realism you've got to mix up the lair and hive wireframes so they're like how they were in Starcraft 1.
And in SC/BW Corsairs have a build time of 40, the same as zealots and dragoons. conversely Wraiths and Mutalisks have a build time of 60. So if you're replicating SC/BW you should have all the same imbalances/quirks.
After all you disabled smart casting and such.
not really. why are you trying to kill you own units with valkyries.
Wait, Valkaryes dead damage, but doesn't deal any for ally or yourself... This is quite a bug...
You've got to swap the wireframes and icons for the Lair and Hive but keep the models the same.
dont understand this
Corsairs have to build at the same speed as zealots and dragoons.
but they have different build times? all unit build times are consistent with starcraft 1
It looks like you're trying to make it like the original, in that case.......
Ok. I played it, and good job, I must say. But there's a bug:
- Reaver turns red when being cloaked -For the gateway, you know in starcraft 1 even if the entrance is blocked the units can come out? Is that possible? - When building science facility, there's something building, but like it's messed up. Guessed this one's because it's a model, and it's very hard to make.. - Valkarye attack deals nothing -Some zerg buildings still spawn broodlings; and also they only last for a while, and are VERY fast...
anyways, for the arbiter, I think it looks great, but it is too big... Just a "little" bit.. This pic might help you scale: http://gall.dcinside.com/list.php?id=language&no=20982
Also, for the profile pic for reaver, make it the one for collosus - they actually look kinda the same :O
Um and what else...
When factory is flying, it turns into tech lab (the build button) Also, you should make the reaver animation back to Even other people agrees. Looks more normal...
Nice job on: When buildings are flying, they fly straight! yay!
Keep going! :D
YEEAAAAHHHH! Good job. Australia? cool. There's a devourer and a guardian and all the other building models too... Although very low poly. You could check them out.
All in all, Such a good job. Now if i can just get the 3ds max to install...
i managed to convert models from warcraft 3. you'll notice the latest version of my map includes the arbiter/corsair/valkyrie.
footprint editor cannot load an existing footprint to edit. everytime you want to change a footprint it wipes it and you have to start from scratch
im also from australia.
FUCK YEAH! Great work man :)
Also i thing the swarm guardian looks better than a brood lord - it is the most similar already in game. The flying queen - Meh, I'd want that... But I can't force you... It's your mod.
Also the building sizes, what is wrong with the footprint editor?
(On the side note, are you somewhere from SEA? Because I'm currently living in Singapore lol)
Damn my 3ds Max won't install. I "to*ren*ed" the file, and something's wrong with it... Uhh if i send you the mdx and the TGA, can you convert it?
P.S. I have an idea for applying texture the easy way... I mean it's pretty easy to apply texture but, maybe this'll work. First convert the mdx file to a 3ds Max file, then name the two TGA and 3ds file the same, then open it and see if it works.
One more thing, you should reduce the size of the firebat to respect the size in SC1.
flying queen looks bad also tired of being "told" to use the swarm guardian for the guardian. no. the swarm guardian model looks bad. i dont like it at all. im only using it for the queen because theres nothing else.
Also, the "Queen" model is a guardian model; why don't you use it for a guardian???
P.S. use the Leviathan for the queen instead for now;
Or, use the SC2 Queen Model on air, with size smaller; the two bw and sc2 queens are similar in shape.
I'll let you know when I convert them models - i'm downloading 3dmax, which will take a while.
Spawn Broodling action => spawn additional larvae etc => attack air action
I tried to replace the BW queen with the current queen; it works, but its legs move when it's "FLYING". If the legs don't move, it should work...
Ok. I'm downloading 3dmax now...
go for it.
All you do is just import the texture with it...
EDIT: Did you convert the texture to TGA???
Also if you don't have the skill, (:P) I'll do it and send it to you.
i had tried to. extracted the arbiter mdx and texture. but importing it into 3dsmax did not import with the texture and i have a very limited ability in what i can do with 3dsmax, mapping a texture to a model being a skill i do not have. if you've worked out a way to do this however i'd be more than happy to take a look at them. some of the models are ok such as the arbiter. i could definitely use that. others are abit too low poly for sc2 but yea.
pretty much doing it on my own. i get alot of help from this community and TL.net. dont really have a team. all i'd really take on is someone very talented with model editing and texture making to recreate the sc1 units in great quality.
Ok. I got some good quality models from Project Revolution.
I got the arbiter, the shuttle, the reaver (SC1 style), dropship, corsair, Devourer, and valkarie.
they're in mdx and TGA (I converted into TGA)
the reaver, dropship, arbiter, corsair, and the valkarie are very good quality. Should I send it to you? (You might need some converting... I did the TGA bit for you.)
Good luck! Also are you working single handedly? or in a team? and is it possible for me to join? :P Thankz
http://www.thehelper.net/forums/showthread.php?t=47918 They have a WC3 viewer, which can convert texture blp to TGA, etc.
This should convert generally... I think.
They actually allowed people to take it after they abandoned it.
I have the mdx files together with the blp, but they arent labeled properly. do you still want them?
btw, http://forums.sc2mapster.com/resources/third-party-tools/4237-updated-mdx-importer-for-3ds-max/ you can change mdx to m3 pretty easily, I hear.
Btw it's just that I really think this project can go far, and want to help you with anything...
P.S. Since you're trying to make it exactly like SC1, just get rid of the Hard Core mode, make it into one - That is sticking true to the original.
