AV Glaze
Glaze models for Starcraft 2
What are glazes? Why should I use them?
Glazes are additions to the texture(s) of a model. They can apply a general effect to any actor ingame. The cloak effect is an example of a glaze, but glazes can also make a unit look frozen, snowy, like a projection and much more.
How do I add a glaze to an actor?
Glazes are in the data editor found as actors of type "Model Material". You have to add Void dependency or higher to get them. To add a glaze to an actor, you have to go to the glaze you want to apply and copy it's ID (double click on the glaze, then the third field in the new window). After that you go to the actor you want to apply this glaze to, go to the "Event: Events+" field and add a new event. Set the event to your preference ("Actor Creation" if you want to apply it from start) and set the message to "Model Material Apply". As Material Name, you now paste the copied ID of the glaze.
How do I add an imported glaze to the editor?
Copy any of the Glaze actors (I would recommend "MaterialVinesTo" since it has no unneeded events) and rename it to your preference. Now go to the field "Art: Model" and setup the imported glaze there. Optionally, go to the "Event: Events+" field and delete all non-standard (not greyed out) events, EXCEPT the one containing "Actor Creation - ModelMaterialApplyTo ::Main". Leave all other fields as they are.
Hi AlleyViper (and Supernova1234),
I used your assets in my public map, Desert Strike Azure.
Assets Used:
Medivac Center BLDG Placement: BioDomeCommand_Placement.m3, .dds
Viking Fighting Tower BLDG Placement: PsiIndoctrinator_Placement.m3, .dds
I tried to find Supernova1234 to thank them as well, but I could not find them.
Thank you for letting our community use your assets! All credit was given to you within a trigger comment action. If you would rather have credit in another method, please pm me. –thanks
This project is not abandoned, I do not know who decides this kind of thing, but I have not at any time said that this project is abandoned or anything like that.
I'm having no problems with these textures. They really make units look unique. You guys must be doing something wrong.
For some reason the Rusty Glaze is not working properly when I import it. All I get is a static light blue glaze. The Tech glaze is colored white, instead of blue like in the screenshot.
What if I'm doing something wrong? I imported the models and textures to my map, set the Events in all actor tabs, but still it's not coming out right.
I'll be thankful if you can lend a hand!
Hey dude, keep up the good work with these! They look really beast! I would like it if you could make a red glaze, that would be cool!
Looks really good!
Wow this is cooler then cool.
