UPDATE: Blizzard released a new tutorial about Actors earlier today!
The Sandbox by dingoo71
Are there any melee players out there that want to get better? I sure hope so. If you've got some free time and are looking to improve, this micro testing map should help you tenfold. All SC2 units, upgrades and buildings are instantly available on a wide open sandy terrain with ramps and bases, and relatively few buttons grant you a great variety of possibilities. The really cool thing about this project is that while you can play it solo, you can also play it 1v1 with a friend or AI!
The current version should be: "The Sandbox [by dingoo]" uploaded by phoenix. I hope he will keep this updated.
Thanks for publishing this on the US server. Would you make sure it is the current version? I tried dozens of different sandbox's to see if I could find the most current one, but the only one I could find looks out dated. For an example your videos up top show much more detail on the terrain than the version I found. Obviously there was a bunch of bugs, but didn't keep me from getting good use. I wont post the bugs, 'cause as I said it was an outdated version. I'll try to find the current one again.
While the Cortex engine by Motive is a significantly more robust sandbox, this at least has the benefit of being more accessible to any random player.
It would benefit from some thorough stat tracking; it's not enough to know what force composition would win, but by what margin, at what expense, over how much time, damage taken, damage dealt, damage reduced by armor, et cetera. What If sandboxes can be fun, but providing Why and How Much will make it informative and useful.
Also, Press Any Key To Continue is an easily exploited tool for grief. It's not good for anything outside of a single player campaign.
