Starcraft 2 Editor is so powerful that you can make any RTS out of it, so you are wrong. Also, there are some space-theme heroes like Andromeda in Heroes of Newerth (DotA-game) which works out perfectly fine.

It's not about the theme, it's about how it all works - mechanics yo.

The only problem I have with the game was that the effects don't match the style and abilities aren't balanced to the point of heroes having pros and cons...

Everyone gets a uber ultimate, but it's not balanced properly between heroes for example.

The effect made up of SC2 stuff looks ugly and clogs up the screen at times...

They gotta follow that 3v3 map, and use that style of effects where it doesn't clog up the screen unless its really that powerful.

The terrain IS confusing, that's proven, knowing the texture and the color pallet on it.

Micro gravitus has been ultra-nerfed :/ His attack is really too slow.

Starcraft is not the right theme for Dota. Blizzard Dota will suck too! Starcraft is just good for mass Zerglings run into terranfire. Why they didnt make WC4? sad :(

a lot of time and effort have been put into the games content, I give it that, but that's where my appreciation ends.

I just really do not enjoy it, perhaps it's the heroes, or the terrain, or the items, or the abilities etc. Just isn't for me.

At least they're actively working on it and are dedicated to the game.

I agree that it's currently the best in the genre, but with 4.0 I can't say they have made it easier for new players to understand the game alot. The attributes system is confusing, the terrain is awful and theres not the same smoothness as the other dota games have really captured, like HoN (especially) and LoL. This smoothness really shines at things like creeps. Hold Position also doesn't work like real DotA games which would be a great feature to have (currently, the hero will hold but will continue attacking).

Huge flaming hydralisk? Sense has just not been made.

True. I'll admit it is certainly the best of it's genre, though it may not be my cup of tea.
