As you're all aware, the Battle.net WCS will be replacing this year's BlizzCon. With this in mind, Blizzard hooked up various fansites with some tickets to the big championship event in Shanghai, China, and we'd like to send you there! In the comments below, let us know what your favorite Melee Map is and why. Keep in mind, there are only a few tickets to go around, so please make sure you'll be able to attend! The event will be taking place on November 17th and 18th and will host both the SC2 and WoW championships.
If you need more information on the event itself, or further travel information, feel free to check out the dedicated BWC website, and as always, watch StarCraft2.com for the latest Heart of the Swarm information, and WorldofWarcraft.com for the latest Mists of Pandaria information!
If you aren't able to attend, don't fret! You'll still be able to watch it live from Blizzard's WCS Twitch page. Regardless though, feel free to discuss the event in the discussion thread.
if i think about melee i would say daybreak because i can hide overlords and scout to make good retaliatory combo.
besides that for some strange reason i just love ohana. some thing about it reminds me of beaches and open air and family.. :S
and i already live in china so half of the work is already done.. :P
My favourite melee map is Daybreak because it is a large map with many pathways available to attack through, thus encouraging the use of multiple groups of units rather than one large deathball.
My favorite melee map is Entombed Valley.
It's not that I'm the best on it, and it's not that I feel that it is the most balanced or even well-designed map. I love this map because it is the first map in which I truly felt that I had managed to grasp the fundamentals of the game. The simplicity of the four corners, the stark obviousness of the natural, the third with the destructible rocks barring your path, the singular Xel-naga tower dominating the center- all of this conveyed wordlessly clues about how the game was to be played. The soft blue-grey palate of the level ushered into me a calm, collective cool as I went about practicing, and to this day a wave of nostalgia envelops me whenever I see it on the loading screen.
Entombed Valley is more than just a map to me; it is the essence of Starcraft itself.
I like that there is some esports stuff as little as it is here (I am more of a player than a mapmaker) :)
Ok, my favorite map is Tal'Darim Altar. To me it seems this map along with some other old maps few of which still remain on the 1v1 ladder, is a more balanced map with a strong emphasis on the sight because of the many Xel'Naga towers around the map. The different locations with resources allow you to hide expands where not expected and the lack of too many cliffs avoid the problem with doing reaper or other cheesy rushes.I have played this map for a long time in 1v1 and I think this map is equally good for all races. Some other maps are better for one race but here especially with the Zerg nerfs lately are good even for Zerg. As a proof I can say that I don't remember when I last saw a top players game on this map that ended earlier than 20 or 30 minutes.
Stylewise, it's probably the most beautiful map from those approved on the ladder. I remember the first impression I got was how many trees there were, it looked awesome but I think they may have removed some trees because at first it looked like it was not comfortable to see your units well from too many doodads.
Blasphemy!!! I demand this update be removed now! :)
Ohh nooo ladder is invading our custom maps site!!! ;-)
