Mini Chop Farms by Taintedwisp
Mini Chop Farms is a Re-Make of the warcraft 2 classic, In this map your goal is to chop through the forest(while listening to the kickass war2 music) to reach your enemies bases, but beware chop too fast and you may not have the time to defend yourself, take too long and you will be rushed by mobile units or flying units.
You will need a way for players to gain resources other than chopping wood though, maybe killing units or refunding them?
Or maybe a special 'shop' to do various things with points, and you can convert points to wood, but if you gain points from killing the other teams, you can buy wood using those points (buying wood with points is more expensive and less amount than wood to points).
Like 200 wood to 1 point. 3 points to 200 wood.
10 kills = 1 point gained?
You can use points to buy heroes, special units, or change the game in an interesting way...
Maybe a feature that lets you 'regrow' trees by buying 'tree seeds' with points... Costs 5 points for 1 tree seed (1200 wood off of it basically or 25% more wood from a single tree). Basically by killing your opponents you can buy more trees to plant, to gain wood. Planted trees are special and looks different, can't be detonated.
As for the 'building walls', why not use trees as walls, as in you regrow them to barricade places while gaining more resources?
Trees shouldn't be the only thing to grow...
Maybe be able to grow 'thorn bushes' that lets SCV + Mechanical pass unscathed, but other ground biological units will take small damage over time for moving through it. They block vision and can't be attacked by any non-SCV units, and large mechanical units can trample the thing. So only a SCV or a tank and such, can slice or trample it to let your army get in.
If you shrink the 'supply' areas, you can basically make it more versatile and have a larger map area. You can stack supply depots on top of each other, but if you really want to give everyone supply and not take up resource to put those buildings there...
Modify the game at the start so it gives you supply instead. It's likely a trigger too.
As for the trees, if they get mined out one at a time, it means you will end up with unpredictable holes and open areas...
Give each tree 800 resources each, and make them bigger, like 2x2 bigger.
Then add a function for scvs to clear cut the tree, but lose 80% of the remaining resources in the process.
This skill sacrifices the SCV to 'detonate' the tree, to destroy it.
If SCV costs 50, and a tree has 800, 75% would be 600 resources lost, and 200 resources gained.
Maybe make the function cost 50 minerals, so you only gain 150 minerals from that single tree if it's at full amount.

I'm not going to make it so you are surrounded by trees, That being said, I will think of something like maybe making a small path that when chopped through can be used as a back passage or something. I will plan that out :D
Tainted let me rephrase....
I would like to see a little more strategy in how you go about chopping your wood. The way it is now you basically chop outward as your only option. Needs a way to chop secret routes to flank your enemies or hit them from an unknown direction.
That would work too. I just want the ability to build up some defense and maybe a little army before getting mixed up in the battle. Plus you need fallback territory if you start to lose on the main battlefront.

Alright the blockers yeah, ill try to get that, the woods behind base... Hmm I might put a new kind of mineral back there and expand it a little bit so the woods behind it take like 10 times to mine so it takes more then a normal one would.

I put the Depos for looks the supply comes from a trigger.
I will remove the depos eventually I plan on making it so that it looks like a big farm...

And yeah I know I got some balancing to do. and I would like to add a few units.
Back to the map... I think the players should have to mine in order to get resources instead of having a bunch. You could pretty much make everything cost nothing to make it look better. Also, you can make, say the command center have a supply of positive 200, so you can get rid of all of those supply depots and replace them with something that... i don't know.... is interesting to look at? Also, perhps the map should be bigger, and some stats will definatly have to be modified. But I still really like the map :)

Second of all, "minding our business" involves reading the forum and banning/warning anyone that behaves inappropriately. Even if you were to continue your arguments in PMs, I believe we do actually have access to those, and Taintedwisp could just simply add us to it if we don't.

Ninth: If it has a video, it gets featured on mapster. There's a thread where people can submit a request for featuring their maps. We see the requests and news them. If their map isn't good, well, they shouldn't have submit the request in the first place then, or asked a moderator to take down the newspost.
