Global Play Coming to StarCraft
As many of you likely know, starcraft 2 is region-locked, meaning you cannot play with people who live in different areas. A Global Play option, similar the one in Diablo 3, will be added to Starcraft 2 in a future patch. With global play, you will be able to switch which region you are playing on, allowing you to battle with friends from across the world. good job Blizz
Does this mean you will be able to personally publish maps in other regions? That would be useful...
No- at least not as far as I can tell. Like I said, Diablo 3 allows cross-region play with no additional licenses, so I would assume this is a similar system.
"Players will be able to freely switch between regions via the StarCraft II login screen."
@zeldarules28: Go
Do you still have to own an account for the region?
Yes Jake Cake. Just like D3, you just change your region from the options menu in the client. No extra downloads required.
Awesome news, I have all regions already, but with this it seems like it's going to be a simple option in the settings menu instead of me using 50Gb for a seperate installs for each region. Can anyone confirm this?
Well, it's about time.
@michael, Yeah, but they are also adding separate MMRs in HotS for each race.
This is good news. I'm glad Blizzard is doing a few things to make the current BNet much like the older times.
Why didnt they do this from the start?... I guess we all know why :( ....
Oh snap a bunch of people are going to be sour about buying multiple accounts :D
