This is for efficiency issues, you don't want to copy the entire structure each time you pass it to a function. But ... the way it is fixed is by allowing passing structures by reference.
The solution we used to do was passing structures by reference using pointer ... However pointers has been removed with the release of the editor! This is a serious issue.
Oh yeah, I just saw the time limit. Why a time limit?
The contest is meant for everyone to join, and being able to win. Having it limited to one minute allow someone spending 3 or 4 hours to be able to win :)
Also, there have been 20 entries on the clock contest, and it was too long to test all the clocks. I want people that vote to be able to see all the entries before voting :)
Err, kinda funny that this event gives away a beta key to people who can play it and make maps already. Does anyone want to donate a beta key if they don't have a friend they want to give it to?
I wish I could give you guys more interesting prizes but well, all I've got available are sc2 beta keys and curse premium. Both are not really useful for mappers ... If you've got some prize ideas just let me know :)

What are the rules on custom resources like models and textures?
Feel free to use the custom things as you want as long as it's available within the game (not post-editing allowed though!).

I have a question does everyone that participates win a beta key ?
Blizzard just gave us some beta keys to share with mappers, so we are going to give them to all entries :) (you must be somewhat serious though :P).
By the way, if you can't make a video of the map because you don't have [fraps, good computer, the time, ...] we will find someone that make the video for you :)
Also, I forgot to tell but you have to provide the map with your submission :)
It's using ASCII character set (0-127: http://www.asciitable.com/) If you want to use strange characters you can add them into the string using \xFF where FF is the unicode character in hexadecimal.
They are separate things. I am not exactly sure how the licensing curse applies here but Blizzard has the final word on everything. Any map you make with GE is en essence owned by them.
I'm not a layer or anything but this seems to be a really strong affirmation. I really doubt that's something legal to be able to "own" any stuff that is done with a tool. Imagine Adobe that says every image on the net belongs to them because it's done with Photoshop.
Again i'm not a layer and don't know anything about that, but I'm pretty sure you keep your intellectual property on the maps you do.
Submission is over, the contest is being voted on right now here.
Cut Scene Contest
Since the Clock Contest was a great success, we decided to start a new one. This time we want to feature the cinematic abilities of the Galaxy Editor.
What to do?
You have to use the Galaxy Editor to make an ingame cinematic. You are pretty much free on the theme, the goal is to show the possibilities of the editor to do machinimas. Since it only lasts a week and we want everyone to be able to join it, the length is limited to 1 minute.
Requirement
Cinematic must last less that 1 minute
Provide a youtube video: No post-editing allowed, it must be directly recorded within the game
SC2Mapster must appear somewhere on the video. You can insert the sc2mapster intro before the cinematic, add it in the loading screen, use the ingame model ...
Deadlines
You have 7 days to complete this contest, and then during one day a poll will be launched for you to vote and elect the winners!
End of the submissions: Saturday 22 May - Midnight PDT (Los Angeles) [Sunday 23 May - 9 AM GMT (Paris)]
End of the votes: 3 days later
Reward
The main goal of the contest is the fun, however it's better when there's something to win :) We have a lot of beta keys and Curse Premium to give.
First: 3 Starcraft II Beta Keys + 1-year Curse Premium
Second: 2 Starcraft II Beta Keys + 1-year Curse Premium
Third: 1 Starcraft II Beta Key + 6-month Curse Premium

That's how it works. At least before the Galaxy Editor.

if !runActions {return true;}
You are missing parenthesis around the condition.

Yes it is :)
(Let's hope I don't get sued because of what I just said :p)

Thanks Thalassicus, I've just posted your findings in the front page. Hope Blizzard will fix this fast.

Assets is what you call multimedia. This is where you can upload models, images, tools ... :)
Maybe it's not a good name, we are thinking of revamping the top menu to make things clearer :)
