I've been thinking of it but I don't know how hard it will be to merge the maps together.
The way I (well Sholdak had the idea!) see it done would be to take let say the 10 best minigames and pass the map around, each author adding his minigame to the global map. Having one people making the merge is like an impossible task.
There will be conflicts with the tilesets, the init triggers and it's going to be hell to copy & paste all the terrains, units, datas, regions ... But well, it would be SO cool!
About holding an idea, nah! If many people make the same game, it will force them to be creative to stand out, and that is what we want :)
Everyone saves the first 10 scores. And at the beginning of the game, all the participants give their top 10 to the others and synchronize so they all have the same top 10. I guess that's how you did it.
In what way do you mean "Must use terrain" cant I use buttons?
Yes you can use buttons, but it must not be 100% made of dialogs :) For example if you are making a tic tac toe, the board game should be made of terrain + units. And of course you can have buttons to (re)start a game, chose the color ...
If you have played Warcraft 3 custom maps you must have made at least one game of Uther Party. This is a map that regroups a lot of small minigames. The goal of this contest is to take this idea and make a lof of new minigames :)
What to do?
You have to make a minigame.
You can submit as many entries as wanted as long as they are all differents.
Since Battle.net is down, the minigame must be playable solo.
In order to avoid people using already made map and to make it possible in a small amount of time:
The map size must be 64x64
Dialogs are allowed BUT the minigame must use the terrain.
What you have to give
You have to provide a youtube video. If you can't record, post the map and ask, someone will help you recording it :)
You have to attach the map used to take the video
Deadlines
You have 8 days to complete this contest.
End of the submissions: Wednesday, July 28th - Midnight PDT (Los Angeles) [Thursday, July 29th - 9 AM GMT (Paris)]
A public vote will be held after the end of the submissions to decide who wins.
Reward
The main goal of the contest is to further community development within GalaxyEdit. The rewards can be see as follows:
I am working on the new design (profet one) and testing out some things. Having a fixed-size design really makes a lot of wasted space and make large text in the news unreadable (look at the achievements). I don't know yet if it is going to be kept that way.
Increasing the map size is a small change compared to the number of players. They have probably hardcoded the number of players in a huge number of places like in the battle.net lobby system, in the communication protocol and in the game internals. I highly doubt it is possible to make such a drastic change.
The map size is something dynamic, so we did not know if they hardcoded the maximum. Sadly it appears they did :(

If anyone managed to make it work, a small tutorial would be really nice :)

Can't wait for your visual library to be released, all your maps are really nice looking :)
Anyway the concept is cool, however it's kinda boring, you should increase the speed and the unit turning speed :)

However if it is also playable in multiplayer that's better :)
