Though, if it is to be like Total War, then there would be multiple generals, heirs, and a leader. By the way, the thread title mentions Rome total war, Medieval total war, and Empire total war, but what about Shogun? Surely that, as the first game and the most recent, merits mentioning in the thread?
Hey guys, I'm new and a big fan of custom maps. Unfortunately, I'm no good at creating them, so I thought I'd pitch this idea for a map out to anyone else who's a history buff like me.
I was thinking of a total war style map of 15-16th century Japan (sengoku period). You would play as the daimyo (lord) of a Japanese clan of your choosing, and forge alliances wtih, declare war on, and trade with other daimyos. You could build certain structures that would allow different types of samurai and ashigaru, others would increase provincial happiness, culture, etc. Controlling provinces would allow you to tax the peasants to gain money, but there would be expenses deducted by your army, building upkeep, and other things. If you set taxes too high though, the peasants could grow angry and revolt, becoming another enemy to deal with.
That's my idea. If you like it and think you could do it, please say so. Also, tell me if you think any improvements could be made. Thanks!

Well, I guess it's your preference. I haven't played the multiplayer so I guess I wouldn't know.

Yeah, Shogun 2 was the root of the idea.
