Ok, the haven leaves and zhakhul das bricks were the challenge I suppose. I made a little alien planet with a human port and some alien ruins. I tinted these ruins to match the theme that the textures created togather. I placed the trees on top of the leaves, added some big crystals and structures, but tried to keep the focus on the textures and cliff/height brush.
Nicely done, it turned out pretty wall. The only thing I would add, and this is probably more of a preference, is a blizzard cliff ravine with something on it. But, meh, that's just always been a preference of mine.
I have an unfinished terrain that a friend kindly donated. It is a cortex terrain, meaning, so long as it is in the "theme" of the terrain, and so long as players have sufficient space to move around, almost anything goes. The terrain's structure is done, so all that will need to be done is textures, doodads, and points of interest. It is a really nice concept, and the structure is very good. He wanted me to finish it, however I have several other projects that require my full attention. Basically, it could make for an interesting JTE. Anyone who participates would be fully credited, and the map would be published as a cortex map.
The terrain is a massive tree. That is, it is set on top of a massive tree. This might sound strange, but I think a look at what he has done will really motivate some cool ideas. I will send a copy via PM.
No this actually looks pretty cool. Turn down the HDR on the crystals if you bumped it up, and maybe add a ravine with some blizzard cliff height variation in the forested area, and I think that will come togather really nice.
Use the blizzard cliffs plus the height brush to make some ravines and, uh, cliffs that are not accessible. For jungle, and really any natural terrain, I usually follow a list of steps:
1) Use the Blizzard Cliffs to make any ravines I want
2) Use the Blizzard Cliffs to make any cliff faces I want
3) Use the height Brush to add to any existing ravines and Blizzard Cliffs, or to make hills and mountains.
4) Paint textures
5) Place any structures I want added. For this, I'd go with some nice temple statues, maybe so temple colum walls
6) Place rocks in order from arch to giant to large to normal to small
7) Place vines and any not tree doodad, including underbrush
8) Place trees
9) Polish
10) ???
11) Profit
Hmm, can you convert that into a jpeg? The resolution is really low, so I cannot see any of the details, but I really, really, really liked that cannon.
" If you'd change any more than people are changing now, you'd just get a completely different terrain, and it wouldn't really have much to do with 'before & after' anymore. I have some WoW dino models. I got it! A before after terrain showing: first the dinos, then their fossils.
If you really think government officials are as knowledgeable, well coordinated, and cooperative, then I suggest you take a position at the federal reserve or the SEC.Yes, I admit that there is tons of collusion, but no one is running anything; people simply cannot and do not coordinate macroscopic events, however much they, or you, may think they do. It is true, I know how the SEC lawyers, when they are not spending 8 hours a day watching 'adult videos' (There was an ABC special on this, actually), operate. They work for about 3-4 years, network, then go back to the business world and get that little insider edge with regards to policy, or know who to talk with to stop an investigation. Yes, this all happens, but the average American seems totally oblivious to this fact, and instead prefers to make up wild fantasies about Dubbyjah (W) giving birth to C'thulu. As for religious idiots, thanks, I suppose, seeing as I am one of them!
Thanks for the feed back. I also flipped around the Shakuras Walls, which gives the enterance a more, well, stone tower temple like feel! I think I will tint the fog a little darker and probably use a modified Xil Light, or maybe MarSara with a little less red.
Addendum:
Ok, I have not added fog yet, as I plan on working on the mountain alot more. However, I did start on the actual canyon. My goal is here is less to recreate and more to suggest the feeling Ikana Castle, Canyon, and ST/STT had.
Maps: <Several Cortex Roleplay Terrains; I plan on revamping my already published terrains, which are, Cortex Roleplay - Bleak Wood Temple, Ultradiatus, Crete, and Derelict. Current project, which will be released shortly, is the re-terrain of Cortex Roleplay, Antediluvian Vale, and you can find screens at the cortex roleplay forums under terrains, or here, also under terrains (thread name, Feed Back Requested Pretty Please with...) This is probably the most accurate showcase of my work (the other three being made about 2 months+ago)>
Contact: <A PM either through the SC2 mapster or Cortex Roleplay. B-net info available upon request.>
If any of you played Legend of Zelda Majora's Mask, you probably either have really fond memories of this place, or really bad memories. This dungeon was infamous for being one of the most challenging, and it happened to be my favorite. So, despite that fact that SC2 lacks proper doodads, I wanted to go for a little remake. I merged the well know Stone Tower cactus/building model and the face enterance, such that the cactus structure is behind it, though now it is no longer a cactus, but instead and auir temple.
Anyways, at the very least it is a cool use of Shakuras Temple Wall
A desert before a rain shower.
A desert afterwards.
It is said that desert flower seeds can lay dorment for over 30 years; my inspiration was Planet Eath's portion on Death Vally, in which the same thing occurs.
Hmm, so, what else should I do. I have really been wanting to make a terrain inspired off this....
I am not entirely sure how to interpret the song into a terrain however.
Can we do a before/after but without the catastrophe? I am thinking of actually reversing this, doing a desert before and after rainfall. I need to go grab my planet earth DvD to get some ideas for it, but I will post it up, probably this weekend.

So, I alter the color for a little more pale green, then turned up the exposer, and also moved the key so that it is more overhead.
Addendum 2: I might turn down the exposer a tad. What do you all think?

Well, I think I am going to submit a few more things, because I really like this WTE, and I am not in anyway happy with what I made.
