Well I'm a man that wants to refresh map variety a bit so upgrades 'n all ain't much of help in this case because I'm considering conversion of The Settlers into SC2 :P
I'm a huge fan of the saga and even though I don't think it would get much popularity... It could be fun
So... Anyone knows how it would do with such numbers?
I know it's super old and I'm sorry for that but would love to get a straight answer to that.
Anyone knows the limit? I've seen how income wars work so I'm a bit worried about performance.
Would it make a difference if most (about 3/4) of the units were uncommandable and unselectable? I'm asking because I'm considering a map on which player would be able to have around 500 units.... :D
Therefore with multiple players numbers grow... big...
Well... SC2 engine is not designed for 3D movement like one shown in the video and that (imo) is the main feature of this game. You would have to depend only on 2D movement which is right/left forward/backward and thats not very viable for what seems to be flight simulator. Moreover you would have to implement WASD movement which for what I know is laggy
If you manage to go over such issues I'll be glad to try your game out since I miss some decent space fights
I'd suggest to do some research through the forums to see if anyone ever tried similar project and if it is doable with tools we have.
I'm saying because there's been a discussion about FPS/TPS engines many times and you could learn a great deal about it's flaws when recreated in the editor
never played Dawn of War but I think you could modify the system I've seen in the video so you gain recources over time by holding xel nagas (Company of Heroes system)
But theres nothing to be afraid of... -.- most of the people in here have ideas of their own to realize... Tbh its the friendliest community I ever met
I'd like to see some crazy missiles, beams, melee or any other type of weaponry be squeezed to it's maximum to see what crazy things you can do with them
WoW use subscription payment model to pay for server cost and storage. SC2 does not,
Hopefully something may change with the marketplace implementation. Personally I wouldn't mind (from the mapmaker point of view) giving a few bucks just to safely store players bank data on the Blizz's server

as you can see in the picture, there are some certain captureable points that give you income increase once captured
by modifying income rate you encourage players to think of some cool strategies. Thats my suggestion
