The fog is actually so that the border between the terrain and the skybox isn't hideous. Also, my game doesn't really lag much at all. At least, not much more than it would in the default view.
Actually, this is a data question. You can remove ribbons from a unit. Sadly though, I've forgotten how :(. I can tell you that it has to do with actor events.
Edit: I figured it out. I've attached a map with Zeratul's ribbons removed.
Well, I can answer your question about changing the tint color of an actor, Luckily, this is one of the easier things to accomplish. Start by finding the actor whose color you wish to change. Go to "Event" and right click on that box-thing. Select "Add Event." Then, change the event MSG type to "Actor Creation." Then, you should change the term to "Set Tint Color." After that, the actor should be tinted the color you chose in-game.
This map is in 3rd person, so the fog is to prevent the game lagging horrible, there is in fact a waterfall by the small pool, the grass is wide so that I don't use too many of that model (and it looks fine in game,) some birds are in the map, just not in any of the photos. Also, with the over sized doodads, it actually seems to make a bit more sense that way. Does it seems as though a marine should be half the size of a house? Also, the omni lights look a bit... odd, in the game. I've tried them but they just look completely out of place and mess up the shadows.
And a response to your statement about the rocks: in this small area, there are 466 rocks.
Overall though, thanks for the feedback :)
Agreed. You could have a large region covering all the areas with water, and then do something special for units of a certain type if they are in that region and at the water's elevation
To lock the camera distance, you can go to the data editor, go to the "cameras" section, select "default", scroll down until you reach "zoom levels." Then select each zoom level and uncheck distance modify for each.
They're good. I'm also not sure that the top turrets need to go, just they could be smaller. Without them, the top part of the Destroyer would seem too empty.

MOST. EPIC. MODEL. OF. ALL. TIME!!!!! Now all you need is a sound emitter which plays the Nyan Cat song-thingy nonstop at ridiculous volumes.

I've had that before. Try restarting your editor; that worked for me.

There was some water, and I scaled the trees up by about 40%.

They look like a combination of 3 Tarsonis trees: one without leaves and two dead palm trees. Am I right, ScrinKing?
Also, just for fun, I made a custom tree from a leafless tree and bushes.

Here's some terrain I made for my RPG. Any feedback would be appreciated :)

Here's a small little bit of terrain I made. I tried to make it look depressing and I hope that I succeeded.

Here are a few more screenshots. I added a little cave.

Yes, just make sure the bank name is the same across both maps.
