Ok... The hut of mine is kinda crap. I rushed it too much and ingame the textures all look like shit.
I watched parts of the modcraft show and I'm trying to come up with something more simple.
Here a Television =D Dunno if there's already a TV Doodad in SC2 but who cares, mine more awesome!
High and Lowpoly, need some more work tho. Trying to use floating geometries for normal maps. hope it works.
Is there any way to put a video in as texture? probably not. Any ideas on how i can get a glowing screen, like the tv is working? otherwise i'll just make it black like its turned off.
Is it possible for you guys to upload the videos? I mean, per torrent, or rapidshare or something like this? It would be pretty great, my internet sucks big time and i cant watch the streams for more than 15 mins... especially episode 4, since i think i saw you baking the model and importing it there....
ooook. so i textured the hut. I think i'll stay with this and not texture the other parts yet since i want to learn how to import it now.
anyways i textured it by making one MultiObject and then assigning different mat. ID's.
And for every ID i used mesh select and then uvw unwrap. I hope it's ok that way...
next i'll try to figure out the thing with teh shaders (I've already got spec and normal maps... but i hope it'll work with the shaders)
If you're refering to ModCraft - I never said that.
Also, not bad. Needs more detailing and then the lowpoly + mapping
So it doesn't have to be a single mesh? Thats cool, it makes everything easier.
Is there some tutorial for baking? A really beginner tutorial that explains what baking actually is.... cause I have no idea =)
Ok I kinda need a bit of help with the Texturing and Baking and all this stuff....
I dont know where to start =/
First my Question from before: For Exporting into SCII, does it have to be one Object/Mesh? Or can it be multiple objects in one file.
So should I just start texturing? But how? When I'm using Unwrap UVW I get soooooooo many little pieces, but I dont know another method. Is it the only way? And what is exectly Baking? In the "Modeling and Exporting"-Tutorial the Baking-point is listed before texturing. Bt what is it?
And specular maps etc, i need for them also the uvw, dont i?
Is there someone who can help me? Father Christmas?
QuickQuestion: When I'm Exporting to SCII, does it have to be all one Object? Like do I have to attach everything to each other and then texture it together or can i leave them as different objects and texture them seperatly (but still in a single .3ds file of course) and then export the whole file?
hm there is one, its the gray thing at the big "window" ok the perspective is not that good for seeing it... i know it's a weird door, but i saw it in a reference image...
http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion=&q=hut#/d1q02rk
But maybe i should make it a bit bigger and closer to the ground
or add some steps...
So i decided to build some model for starcraft 2. May be just a doodad dunno.
Anyway, I know its nothing special and its a bad model, but i had to start somewhere =P
Maybe I'll add some crates etc... some tiny details. But all in all thats it. Any suggestions?
In the couple next days I'll try to bake it and texture it. Figured it will be cute a challange since i never done something like this before.
ok thanks. that answered everything
you can close the thread now.
ill look into the forum. is there some beginners tutorial you can recommend? i looked at the modcraft's video about the crate, but i've found only one video and it doenst show how to import and use it in 3ds max. I got some experience with 3ds max, but none with the galaxy editor.
it's not like im that good already that i could make some custom models for sc2, im just starting.. but i was just wandering: if i import a custom model, may i use it online on my published map? And will other players be able to see them?
I searched the forums but havnt found anything. Maybe its a stupid question, dunno^^
