posted a message on Change Mouse Scroll/Drag Speed?

Still can't figure this out. Anyone have any ideas?

I discovered that the variable I want to change is in the Variables.txt file stored locally on the player's computer. Any way to change this?

posted a message on Change Mouse Scroll/Drag Speed?

Sorry, I am still a bit new with the Data Editor. How do I go about changing a setting there through a trigger/on the fly?

I am *guessing* I want to change:

Scroll Rate Maximum - Normal from 128 (default) to something small (10). Actors?

Edit: Crap, that didn't seem to work. Scroll Rate is tied to Edge Scrolling, I want Drag Scroll (middle mouse click/"Camera Mouse Relative On")

posted a message on Change Mouse Scroll/Drag Speed?

So I discovered that there are console commands, and that the console can control player settings.

For instance, varset is supposed to set a variable (of the form varset [variable] [value]), and the variables I am interested in are dragscrollspeed and dragscrollinverted.

So what I was trying to do was use the "Use Console Command" trigger to set these values on the fly. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to work. Anyone have any experience with this?

Does anyone know if it is possible to change a player's Drag Speed, or any basic player options (graphic settings, hotkeys, etc)?

I am guessing it is not easy to do, and impossible with the GUI, but possible via scripting. Anyone know?

posted a message on Invert Camera Mouse Mode?

Is there any way to inverse the Camera Mouse Mode? I want it to behave more like the Editor's Right Click, so that you can "pull" the world underneath you.

Anyone know how to do this/fake this? Besides flipping my mouse upside down... lol

Right, which is precisely why we need to vocalize the things we, the editing community, want added! Correct? :)

Its completely understandable for the editor to be missing functionality; they've done a tremendous job as is. But we can help them to help us by telling them what sort of additions we want made. That's what this thread, and the one I link to in the OP, is all about. Telling Blizzard what we want.

When you click an ability on a command card, a targeting reticule appears. As far as I know, there is no way to do this without using the native UI. Any custom UI dialogs do not have the ability to enter the Placement System Mode that is entered by clicking on an Ability Command from a Command Card.

Suppose you gave one of your heroes a spell, like Psi Storm. You press your Skill List button and a dialog appears. You choose Psi Storm. Then what happens? In theory, you would want this to work just like a regular Command Card button (in fact, this might be your only solution, to render the Command Card dialog), and bring up a targeting reticule. But in practice, as far as I can tell (and I could very well be mistaken, in fact I hope I am), there is no way to make a dialog button issue an order to a unit that is incomplete-to bring up the targeting reticule.

posted a message on [Trigger] Default Minimap and Commandcard outside the default UI

Is there a way to make a single Command Card button's FUNCTIONALITY take up the entire screen, but hide the button's art itself?

I want the player to be able to click anywhere on the screen, and activate a Command Card button (Build Structure). Any idea if that would be possible?

I've seen it, and it is a noble attempt, but that is not what this is about.

This is essentially a petition to Blizzard to implement the ability to use the native Placement System through triggers.

How are you planning on using targeted abilities? From what I can tell, there isn't a way to prime a targeted ability from a custom UI. Have you found a solution to this, or do you plan on having active abilities only?

Also, I may be interested in helping with design, if you're looking for ideas. Be it level, gameplay mechanics, hero, story, etc. Have decent programming and triggering background as well, at least with the WC3 Editor.

posted a message on Want To Access the "Placement System"?

Me too. So I've created a thread about it on the official Battle.net forum seeking assistance, and any support from the community would likely expedite a response. Here is the link to the thread:

    Question Regarding UI Creation

For those of you who aren't sure what I mean and don't want to read the other post to understand, let me explain briefly:

The system I refer to is the interface that pops up when you click the "Build Supply Depot" button on an SCV's Command Card: the cursor-attached model with the placement grid beneath it. As far as everyone knows, this is impossible to trigger, and likely impossible to script. Many of us suspect that this is because the system itself is handled client-side.

Still, we want to create our own user interfaces, for various reasons, and we want our new UIs to be able to build using the "Placement System" native to the game. Having this functionality implemented would be a huge boon to the creation of maps that differ heavily from the standard SC2 experience. It is clear that Custom UIs are being encouraged by Blizzard, but this missing functionality cripples its use. Any support for this topic is appreciated, either here or in the official thread.

Thanks for your time. Hopefully, together, we can get a response-and ultimately some action!
