Just an example though. Would be great to create as much unique locations as possible and yet some areas from the old one like the casino.
To have one civilian as you with a weapon load out, along with the ability to combine stuff you stole from your van in the parking lot (or something). You could break up the 4 types of damage (mech, bio, psi, struc) to make something feel more solid or more destructive to fire from your hand made Molotov from a wine bottle, napkins, and a lighter you shoplifted.
Sound fun? The game could have many combos from all the store products as usual, along with some secret toys you have to find.
Grocery store wars didn't mess with the resource count in any way. No upgrades, no currency. Just smash, grab, combine stuff, get into lots of trouble.

@mongoosemax I totally enjoyed grocery store wars and would be willing to help make it. Here's a store layout we could use! http://www.treesfullofmoney.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/grocery-store-layout.jpg
