If I were you, try uploading it without advertising it. You know it'll get instant banned as soon as it gets popular.
BUT, what if you upload it without any ad? Don't mention it to anyone, wouldn't it be interesting to see how long it stays on b.net? Just play it once so it shows up on page 20. If no one plays it or sees it, no one can report it. And the few people who accidently finds it may not bother to report it.
I would love to see how long a map like this can exist without being reported. And whether it could rise quickily to the top or not by itself.
Great game! Its a lot of fun with a full lobby, and trying to figure who is what.
As for the night time being too slow, a fix might to create a new chatbox just for the mafia team. They can click on it to make it active so all their chat messages appear there. Then click back to general chat box if they want to type on the main chat. That way, there's no need for night time discussion, they can decide beforehand.
Hmm, I'm curious, how did you find out your account had irregular logins? And how could you go to b.net to fix irregular logins? Just wondering, did you get some email saying you had irregular logins, and to 'click a link' to login into b.net to fix it?
Maknyuzz, I don't understand. You didn't feel mapmakers were already handicapped? So blizzard put their maps up in front. Not a big deal, it doesn't change a thing. Maps that can't get their lobbies filled can't suddenly get worse than still not getting their lobbies filled.
I say good for Blizzard, they know their system stinks so they had to resort to this underhanded trick to get people to play their maps. Not as though regular map-makers didn't resort to underhanded tricks like botting to boost their popularity..
They aren't cheating, they are doing it to spite Rod and Meph for constantly trolling their forums. Banning Debate was just a taste of their power. Now by replacing the feature maps with blizzard maps, they are giving their biggest trobulemakers apolexy. In Charlie's Sheens words, 'blizzard is winning'!
Besides, they didn't put Burning Tides up there. So Blizzard is totally showing constraint.
The most convincing fake blizzard email was a scam warning about scams. And you should click on their link right away and log in to make sure everything is a-okay.
Okay, finally got to try this map out with a full group of 5. I kinda don't like it. :) Map isn't as fun as I thought it would be. It is quite complicated. There's lots thing going on, and there's a lot of different buttons to press. No newbie could ever pick this game up right away and will leave in frustration.
Soo...you guys don't try it out! Do not try to play this map. Oh good, no one is playing it, thanks for listening.
@jaminv:
That's because Debates is the ultimate map you can make with the editor! It requires so much data editing and coding skill, design philosophy, graphical interface, everything! That map is even way better designed than any starcraft 2 campaign maps, that's how great it is. This fact alone guarantees the map to be #1 in popularity. Not only guarantees it, everyone would be playing Debates and nothing else! So it would not only be #1, all other page 1 maps would drop off to less than 100 hours played. Much like everyone only played DOTA and nothing else in war3. That's how awesome Debate is...
And the fact that it isn't #1 means no one is playing it. Because awesome maps gets to #1 place due to everyone loving it. And the fact it isn't #1 means no one is playing because it's just too awesome not to be #1, unless no one is playing....you see and understand now?
Its already very easy to download off b.net. If they want it to be open sourced, they'll just unlock it. Then you can download it directly into the editor. Uploading it again on a website is just extra extra work.
Map is complete. Took around 2 months to make! I snuck the map into Tower Defense category even though it isn't. :) Its on page 4. It was lots fun making this map, I put in lots things I didn't think I could do, but was able to!
I noticed you have ZERO parameters in that trigger overview. If you are making action functions and have no parameters, you aren't really using them optimally. You probably can reduce the amount of code if you make a good action function that can do lots things at once using parameters.
Actually nvm, I just realized you might be using global variables to pass as parameters...
To answer question #2). The stats have been finalized! There are 3 main player stats, Mind, Body, and Soul.
physical: (2xBody + 1xSoul) / 2 [physical increases melee/range damage by 1%]
mental: (2xMind + 1xSou) / 2 [mental increases spell damage by 1% and range by 0.5%]
Mind: +3% hero energy
Body: +1.5% hero health
Soul: +0.4% life regen rate
(Zeratul) Mind increases critical damage
minions: (3xSoul + 2xMind +1xBody) / 10
terrazines: (3xBody + 2xMind +1xSoul) / 4
Minions and terrazines act like the supply cap for your number of minions and defense upgrades. Each defense building needs 1 terrazine. And each upgrade for the defense structure requires even more terrazines.
Also various spells take advantages of these stats. For example, Odin's missile swarm gains additional damage based on physical. And additional missiles based on mental. Kerrigan's healing rain ability's duartion is increased by her mental status.
Its also more fun to be making the map than completing it. Mappers only complete maps for other players; but as no one will ever play your maps (empty lobbies), the incentive for completing maps is very low. You can't even playtest your map in progress because of .. again empty lobbies.

I just did a search on battle.net. Right away, found 3 results for 'the thing' maps. All made by different players.
