Is it possible to directly edit the official campaigns and does it prevent the unlocking of achievements if it's done? I ask since I like tinkering with maps sometimes, however I want to know if doing so will prevent me from ever getting the achievements I've yet to earn.
Well after I read the post the creator of P A R A S I T E made, I felt inspired to make my own P A R A S I T E with similar elements, and taking advantage of the new editor to improve upon it. Although someone has already started on it and they are high on the popularity list and this discourages me from making a tangent game, although my vision of the game is much different. Should I give it a try and create my own, or let this game take its course in progressing?
Other people already making their own version of parasite too?
I am unaware of what you are talking about, likely it is someone else also trying to remake parasite as far as I can tell... however I cannot find the topic that you mention.
Parasite is a custom map for warcraft 3 created by DarkShoGun. It is a 'Who is the murderer' kind of game. I'll give a quick rundown of how the game works for those who've never heard of it or never played it.
You are a crew member of a research space station that has a rouge parasitic alien in it,it has infested a crew member and you need to track him down and kill him. You are assisted by the station's cyborg who is essentially the 'anti-alien'. The goal of the alien is to infest the crew, as whenever a parasite kills another player they turn into it's 'Spawn' (As do random critters on the map) and start helping the alien infest the rest of the crew members. I would go into more depth however I believe it would be easier for people to simply play the map itself. The map can be found here.
Now the reason I've decided to start the remake is because DarkShoGun announced that he is leaving the modding/mapping community and there is no known projects to remake this for Starcraft 2. So I ask for help from anyone with some level of mapping capability that would be willing to devote time into doing this task.
This sounds more like Zerg Infestation or Parasite. Dark Deeds is different as it's more macro-based 'who is the murderer' whilst Zerg Infestation and parasite are more micro-based.

@Shiny45: Go
I mean if you were to save it under the same file name.
