When i finish my own map i wouldn't mind helping others with models etc. I have a games development degree with an animation major but i need to improve my reel to get a job so thats why im doing mods. will be a while till i finish my own map though.
My map wasnt ready in time either, too much work to do and too many bugs to iron out with not enough free time to do it all. But thanks to the competition it did get a lot closer to completion.
the map i am working on is a dota/battlefield hybrid type thing with some cool new concepts but it wont be ready for a few more weeks. looking forward to completing it and unveiling it all even without any competition to win.
I'm gonna guess you would need to do this in a 3D program and it would probably be a pain, you'd be better of designing your own unit from scratch (more fun anyway)
For the map I'm working on I would like to have something like a counter attack move. It would be like a short duration buff you activate and if you are attacked during this buff's duration you would instantly blink towards the enemy and attack them. I have tried several things to get this type of move to work but so far nothing successful. Any hints or advice on this would be much appreciated :)
I never understood why so many people devote so much time into a tribute to an existing game. Spending countless hours on something and denying yourself the most enjoyable part of the process which is character design. I am currently working on a map and the most fun part of the whole thing so far has been coming up with all sorts of different characters.
alternatively you could always seek permission from square enix to create this non-profit tribute, I don't see why they wouldn't appreciate the advertising.
I'm still trying to figure out everything with the editor myself but for the rolling boulder wouldn't you just make it a unit and then give it an animation of rolling when it moves? but that could require you to model/animate it. That said a boulder that rolls isn't exactly an ambitious task if you have 3DSM or maya. I wouldn't know where to start with using the existing boulders though.
I could definitely use something like this on my map. Much more work to do before I get up to that stage though. Hopefully I can come up with something different but equally cool.
Never would have thought of recreating a final fantasy game in SC2 to such an extent but I loved FF13 and this looks like it'll be very interesting to play. Keep up the good work!

Awesome map idea, something really different from what people will expect. Looking forward to giving it a try.
