Holy American accent, Dryeyece! If you could sound any more American an eagle donning cowboy boots would come flying out of my screen, wrap me up in the star-sprangled banner and assault me with falcon punches while reciting the constitution =P
That's sure stereotypical. There are so many different dialects in the US. I'm an American, and I sound nothing like that.
Having rather poor social skills, I've experienced people disliking me for no apparent reason, other than not being able to read their minds, I guess. At least on the Internet people tell you when they have a problem, instead of talking behind your back or using stupid euphemisms. How you react to that blunt criticism says a lot about your character, and from what I've seen you've handled it well. But I could go on an on with social commentary. I'll just wish you luck with your map, and leave it at that.
If you're a "nerd" and don't follow social customs, people will tend to dislike you for no reason. I'm not assuming anything about you; when someone has poor hygiene, it is hard for most people (including myself) to stand to be around said person. That's an example of a situation where someone doesn't have to do anything to anyone to be disliked.
Dryeyece, I didn't really say much in my last post, other than expressing that I would like to test Tofu. It looks really interesting to me, and looks like it could be a lot of fun (at least Waterforts Arena). The mod looks very well polished.
I understand confidentiality very well. I'm very interested in you're project, and would really enjoy the opportunity to help refine it.
The only reason to upload a map here is it to allow players from a different region to play it. Uploading on Battle.net is not the same as locking your map. You can still edit maps. If Blizzard ever adds cross-region map access, I don't see any reason for map creators to upload their maps on here.
The marketplace would have been nice... yeah lots of people get filled with rage over the idea of buying maps, but face it, if any of us were getting a salary to make excellent maps, a lot of us would get on it and pour more time into it. Higher quality maps and mods, too me, is a plus, even if I have to pay a dollar or two for them. Getting payed to make my own maps.... even cooler.
Molsterr is right, good things are coming. For one, the new custom games browser is going to change things and help us get more exposure to our maps. I'm happy with what we have now, and realizing it's just going to get better makes me think more highly of Blizzard. Now we just have to hope Bobby Kotick gets out of the picture (nuclear strike on his house? hmm, goofy map idea lol). I do wonder though, if it weren't for Activision, would we still be waiting for StarCraft II?
This has got me really confused. When I duplicate an ability (specifically Sniper in this case), I checked to copy the actors and events but left the sound and models alone. I made sure no links were broken. I tested my new ability, and neither the sound or the beam played. But here's where it's particularly confusing... I then tried the regular Sniper Round, which I left completely unedited, and it's now broken too. Any ideas why that would be?
I have a number of variables to keep track of a progress of a mission, I can't use a local scope because I use more than one trigger. After the mission is complete, there is no use for the variables. Is there any way to drop them for efficiency?
Ok, a map I worked on way back in beta (never finished it) had this hardened psi shield upgrade available for marines if you chose to ally with the protoss. Well, look at this nifty icon included in patch 1.1:
Do you think Blizzard saw my map? Seems pretty plausible to me. I guess this is nothing more than morale and reinforcement that Blizzard is behind us, the mapping and modding community.
If you plan on using this method to make stars, you should use a custom model with a VERY low polygon count so people don't end up with performance issue. A couple hundred of stars made from the regular model could be devastating to performance.

Hey thanks, I haven't posted on these forums in a while, but again, thanks for covering Blizzcon, I appreciate it. I appreciate it soo much that

Would it be too much to ask for a ticket or 3.5 (cut, not torn)? You know, since Curse has an endless supply just sitting around?

I would be interested in beta testing today, if you're still accepting more testers

Why not take a closer look at the original bunker actor?

My first entry into one of these. Constructive criticism, please.
Edit: New version up! Thanks for the criticism, Mozared.
