This map is wonderful to play, despite its obvious lack of polish. Most maps for Warcraft 3 show a better level of polish. It's a copy of the popular Heroes and Empires map from Wc3.
One of the large issues is that modifiers from governments seem like they were picked for a random number and never even balanced after the fact.
In addition, the armor/health/damage of enemies (Namely Ultralisks and Mutalisks) doesn't seem to be from the same game as the numbers from the terran defense buildings.
Ultra's have 4-5k health, 6+ armor, and between 20-100 damage. The most expensive wall you can buy costs 10 minerals (Extremely cheap) and has 0 armor, and 800 health.
The best structure you can get for defense does 14 damage to Ultralisks. If the game goes to anything at normal difficulty or above, anyone in their first 10 games will die the second an ultralisk hits their base. Ultralisks will roughly 3 shot those walls and they also have AoE. So need to make an extremely weird 15-wall deep block of walls or use civilian structures because they have better numbers. (Which is ridiculous)
People who know how to beat them will be fine, but this comes down to the issue that experienced players will pick a hard difficulty, newbies will pick learner, it will default to "Normal" and then the ultra's will kill the newbies. The pro's don't want to play on easy because its easy.
Either nerfing the ultralisks or adding an upgrade to the 10 mineral wall would be one simple step to improving this game.
Tool tips are largely missing on a majority of units and all of them give very basic information with no stats whatsoever. There's a lot of changing numbers such as how much metal income a mine will give you. This is modified by the government choice.
Overall the game is in desperate need of an expert hand in the editor to polish things up, balance some numbers, and add some upgrades to buildings.
Sadly, the last update for this map (The most played/most updated version of the 12+ varieties floating around) was April 28th and it seems like it won't be getting any more updates.
I'd love to see someone grab it, if they don't soon I might teach myself the editor just to fix those few issues.
