I'm a complete noob when it comes to the editor, but I did this when playing around with the editor when it first was released. I can't remember how to now, but I do remember looking at the Terran Viking and I figured it out. I'm sorry I'm not that helpful, but hopefully that will send you on the right path.
I absolutely DESPISE the in game model for Infested Kerrigan and have successfully made the portrait model work in her place, however she just floats around without any animations. Also, the background for the portrait floats behind her (which is pretty funny). Is there a way to map the animations used for the in game model to make the portrait model work? Would I need to use 3DS Max for something like that?
I know the models are too high-poly to use in general, but would 1 high poly model really make that big of a difference?
Too bad they spent all this time making this and Kerrigan doesn't even look like this anymore... Well, maybe since we don't really know what happens in HOTS
Here's a map with Human Sarah Kerrigan I've made. Haven't worked on her skills and stuff, so it's pretty much Nova (recolored) with a different name, but it shouldn't be too hard to change her skills.
Let me know if you need help with that and I'll be happy to work on it, just may take some time.
Ok, I couldn't wait... plus I have a Mac at home, and I don't think the DDS plugin works with that. I just did it at work... Here's what I came up with.

This is awesome... may I ask how you did this? Or point me in the direction of a thread that explains this :)
