posted a message on Help with abilities

No, they haven't really changed. I've been Data Editing for a while now and the requirements have always been conveniently located at the same spot, although finding it for the first time sure can be troublesome.

Go to Stim, look for the field Ability: Commands+, open into that, you will see a window pop up with Commands, Flags, Requirements and Default Button sections. If you look at Requirements, you will see "Use Stimpack" as the requirement and a bunch of green buttons that look like an Armory. You will direct your attention to below the Scroll Bar of the requirements section and see a red 'X'. Click on that red X to remove the "Use Stimpack" requirement from the ability.

    You are welcome :)

posted a message on Unit Animations per Weapon?

You will probably, first of all, want to name your AnimBracket's different names for each seperate animation, You name both 'Attack', playing different animations. Could possibly be conflicting(although I doubt it is, but I won't get into possible scenarios)

From the data module, press Ctrl + Shift + V to open the Previewer. Find the unit you are using and load it up in the previewer. You will see a few separate sections, bottom right should be a time line with a red bar and most likely a blue bar under the red bar(although sometimes it can be green, pink, purple, dark green, black, dark blue, etc). Right click on the bar below the red bar, and select Change Animations. You will see a list of all the animation names. You can control which animations by calling for them by their name.

posted a message on Missile Launch isn't landing 100% of the time...

It's because it uses the Mover :TossBottle(Unnamed) which does not Track the target. You can launch it at a point and it will attach to a unit if there is one there, but if not, it bugged out.

You can change the mover in the unit tab, the custom Projectile for the grenade.

I think this was my very first "custom" ability I ever did, hahaha.

That mover (tossbottle) does not have a Guidance phase, which is what causes projectiles to home in on their target.

    What do you mean, models?

    posted a message on Reading

    Yea, I read lots.

I read pretty much anything Forgotten Realms, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, George R R Martin, Tolkien, Anthony Pierce, some Christopher Pike, Richard A Knack, Dan Brown, more who's names evade me at the moment.

    Quote from Mozared: Go

"I read the Silmarillion", which I think is a feat of its own.

Really? I've read all of Tolkien's stuff and whatnot... why is Silmarillion a feat of its own? The feat of its own is rereading the Lord of the Rings series for like the 12th~ time and NOT skipping the very beginning of the first book and starting where they meet Tom Bombadil... god... I now find it painful to read the very beginning... it's just so... EPICLY boring in comparison to the rest of it.

posted a message on emotionally 'Scary' stuff

I should clarify: Christmas was cancelled for the night. We're doing it on the 26th now.

When we took his temp the first time(10 minutes before the seizure) it was sitting at like 100.6 degrees. When the paramedics showed up(1 minute after the seizure), I didn't know this at the time, but they took his tempature and it had jumped to 105, which I only found out a few hours after I had written the post. I was too busy keeping my other nephew and niece out of the paramedics way to have noticed.

His temp jumped by about 4.5 degrees in 10 minutes which is why he went into a seizure.

Good news though, he was able to come home tonight instead of tomorrow. They did some tests just to make sure it wasn't something else and he's clear. THANK GOD.

    That's rough, Keyeszx.

I hope your bro gets home, Naomi.

posted a message on emotionally 'Scary' stuff

K, I have 2 sisters and they are both married, so today we were supposed to do Christmas with me, my sisters and their kids/husbands and my dad.

I live with Sister #2. We were going to Sister #1's for our XMas get together. Sister 2's youngest boy(he is 2 years old) was sick and not feeling well and was running a little fever, so my Bro in law was gonna stay at home with my nephew until either my nephew seemed to feel better(at which point they would show up later) or just stay home.

As me, my sister and my other nephew and niece are just about to head out the door, we hear my bro in law screaming for us.

My 2 year old nephew had a seizure right out of the blue. It was fucking scary. My brother in law had him in his arms when he started the seizure. My sister freaked out for a half second, mad dash for the phone and whatnot. Call 911 and they show up within 1 minute(there's a fire station right down the street so the firefighters showed up at the same time).

Basically my nephew was brought to the hospital and he's being watched overnight, but it looks like it was just because of his fever(which wasn't that high, but everyone is different). He's baby-talking and trying to rip out the suctions cups and all that crap off of him, so to me that looks very promising.

    Basically, Christmas was cancelled tonight.

The last time I felt like that was when we got a call from the hospital, they had found my dad after he had tried to kill himself.

Man... what a fucked up day.

Anyone else ever feel like that?

posted a message on (Solved) Forcing only 1 of a group of units to use an ability

Ranakastrasz... that is a terrible description of smart casting. Here's some tests you can do yourself (I tried out Smart flag a loooooong time ago)

    Test 1

    • Create a map, add a Ghost for yourself and a Zergling for player 2.
    • Test map, right click on Zergling... the Ghost shoots his regular weapon.
    • Go back to the editor, modify Snipe, add flag 'Smart'
    • Test map, right click on Zergling... the Ghost will Snipe instead of shooting regular weapon.

THAT is smart casting. You don't need to push a hotkey, just a right click.

By default, all the "Smartcast" abilities listed in your link, Ranakastrasz, only have 'Best Unit' flags checked, and not 'Smart'. The Train/Morph abilities are 'Best Unit' abilities aswell...

    Test 2

    • revert to default Snipe, remove 'Best Unit'.
    • Test map, try sniping with all ghosts selected... they all rush towards, all trying to snipe the target first until it is dead

    Test 3 & 4

    • default Snipe, add 'Smart'(with Best Unit and without Best Unit flags).
    • Test map(with hydralisks), right click on hydras while all ghosts selected, they all rush forward and only 2 will snipe at the same exact time to kill the Hydralisk.

'Smart' ignores 'Best Unit'. It is quite obvious that Smart was meant for "hero" units, or maps where you only control 1 unit and their main 'spell' would be 'Smart'. You don't even need to waste a Command Card for that 'Smart' ability.

More Proof::: says that Blink is not a 'smart cast' ability. I only added 'Best Unit' and BAM, only 1 stalker out of the bunch will blink at a time. I add 'Smart' to blink( with 0 cooldown) and it was alot of fun(lol)

That wikipage should totally be renamed to 'Best Unit Casting' or something...

    @Ktoksaproblem: Go

So as DrSuperEvil said, add a requirement and check the 'Best Unit' flag on your ability.

posted a message on Games inside dreams

lol ya I've had a few game dreams.

Way back in the day, maybe like in 2002, I had 2 different dreams about what Diablo 3 would be like... I can honestly say I don't remember much of it, or if my vision of it was close or not(though I do remember running through the jungles and killing stuff and it was awesome).

Um... Final Fantasy Tactics dream, lol. Except in the real world. Turn-based Real Life dream, it was weird. lol.

posted a message on Leader of North Korea dead...

I don't believe in politics, I believe in survival.

Politics don't matter in the slightest. Seriously does not affect me. After growing up and being able to vote for the last 10 years(I, unlike trend research indicates, voted the first two times I was able to, for federal and provincial), I can honestly say that anything my government(I am Canadian) has done has, in the long run, done NOTHING, has had NO IMPACT on how I live. I no longer care what happens because it matters not. No positive, no negative, it's all just the same shit over and over. Hence why politics are bullshit and everyone pays too much attention to it all.

In 10 years of voting, my vote has never mattered(Federal, Municipal, Provincial). I can say that with UTTER certainty. Because the government I voted against isn't destroying this country or going to war every 3 seconds, and I don't think the government I voted for (if they had won) would destroy this country or go to war ever 3 seconds either... So... does my vote change anything? Fuck no.

We've all been brainwashed by the losing parties to believe that our votes matter, when in truth, the losing party just wants to win so they can feel like their life has meaning or that they have accomplished their life goal(s).

No wonder young adult voting is so low. Because in the end, it doesn't fucking matter.

Show me a government that actually does some REAL good(as opposed to keeping a few promises and screwing up on a few others - this is expected). I may begin to vote again. But never before.

These are direct copy/paste from Parliament Canada's website on Youth Voter Turnout Research:

the broad trend over time for youth voter turnout has been downwards without much respite

    and

These numbers remain distantly below the Canadian average voter turnout

Finally, the conclusion of this research:

A precipitous decline in electoral participation of those eligible to vote in their first one or two elections began after the 1984 federal general election. Analysis of trends in voter turnout and research into the non-voting behaviour of Canada’s youngest eligible voters suggests that simply aging will not increase their propensity to vote, as might have been the case with past generations. Further, as these youngest non-voting generations do age, they are replacing older generations who have displayed a much higher propensity to vote than their replacements. The implication of this trend is that the overall voter turnout in Canada will continue to drop.

The young don't fucking care because politics are bullshit and feel it doesn't matter.

I don't speak for all the young, just myself, but uh... the numbers don't lie.

Don't bother replying to my post in hopes I will read it. This thread is dead to me and it gave me a headache. I don't even know why I posted, honestly...

and I am in full agreement with the quote posted by Mozared.

posted a message on Custom Abilities

I don't think I will make a tutorial, although perhaps I will copy/paste the stats into script or some such... I believe I would have to remake this ability from the ground up since I think this map is long gone. It was originally designed for somebody else's map, but I know for a fact it was never completed. It was actually not too difficult and that was made like 2 months after I first started. I'm sure I could improve upon the mechanics of it slightly due to what I now know. Eitherway, not too hard.

The ability issues a move order to target point, places a buff that disables all commands, and a secondary buff that with X distance remaining to target point, expires and creates the final opening portal visual at target point. I'm fairly certain the main buff had no time limit, it would automatically remove itself when the caster was no longer moving(IE had reached it's destination).

Used a SiteOp(Explicit Rotation) to tilt the Vortex.

Oh, and in my final improved version(not displayed) it had a minimum distance to be able to use the ability.
