I'm trying to make my own UI and I want to make buttons for it. I made the buttons, but the problem is that I can't get the border to work. I want to use something like ui_ingame_tabbutton_normalpressedselected_terran.dds or something like the ui_help_tabbutton_normalpressed_terran.dds. How do I make these fit into a button?
Your first image link works perfectly fine using the default button image type "Border". Just change the image like this:
Custom UI's using dialog items can turn out really great, but is a long process. I am currently playing around with one myself, as seen in the attachment. I wish you good luck!
However, if I wanted to change it to say ui_button_bindkeybound_normalpressed_protoss.dds, it goes back to being that messed up image.
Edit: I've tried like 15 others and the first one is the only one that works. I did all of them the same way, so I'm confused. There must be another method of making these things fit or something.
Certain image links use an image type different from the usual. I have yet to find a method of using those in a meaningful way, that does not include remapping the textures by hand to make them fit the ordinary image types. That could be an option for you though, if you really want to use one.
I don't see why that would be helpful to him at all. The textures that he is trying to apply use a different image type than those available. Did you try replicating what he's trying to achieve yourself?

depends on the type of the border. try to change the type of the image. normal is to apply the picture as it is.
