In line with all the information we've been getting about the new Nova maps, this week's WTE theme will be "Ghost Academy". What does this mean? Simple: you create what you think a Ghost Academy looks like. Whether it's the outside, hidden away on some remote planet, or the inside, depicting training areas and resoc-rooms is up to you. Just show us where Nova was made!
Adjutant: All unauthorized personal must leave this floor level immidietly. Risk 99.8%. Stress Test Phase 6, commencing. Liberating Omegalisk and Ultralisk speciments into the test room.
Wow, I really like that! Nice touch with the mini story too.
That's a concept I've always wanted to work into a map somehow, the idea of an artificial environment within a lab or testing facility (huh, a bit meta, artificial terrain within terrain for a computer game :D)
If I were to suggest anything that could be improved it would be to maybe add some consoles and monitors or something to suggest controls for manipulating the 'simulation', especially with the story you have there, and/or for monitoring the vitals of the test subjects and such.
Possibly also some lights or gantries overhead as well? (Unless it's supposed to be a walled area outside) just to push the 'not quite natural' theme.
The idea is really an artificial exterior terrain in the lab. I could have kept modifying it and perfecting it, but I've let it as it stands because the overall result is great. But yes, it can totally be much much greater ;)
If you have Nova (or maybe even without buying it you might have access in the editor?), there are some very good new interior doodads and a whole tileset for that. Trust me, it's really worth checking out!!!
On this topic, has anyone gotten the Tarsonis Interior cliffs to work? When I load the tileset in the editor, it just gives me the old WoL brick instead of that cool interior cliff style from the Nova campaign :(

Not exactly what you've asked for but still fitting the theme: Here's a couple of screenshots of a map I've been working on the past few days. It's going to be a stealth mission with heavy inspiration from the first 3 covert ops missions.
Feedback and (constructive) criticism is welcome :)
It's cool. But for some reason, the only thing that tickles my mind is: "Why does it always have to be lava?" Not that i want to quote Raynor... but you know. What about a very acid liquid with colored smokes coming out of it or dryed zone with some radioactive crystal and fog on the ground... like something more original than water or lava. We've been seeing this lava plane model for more than 6 years... Nothing against it, but I dont know...
What do you think? Is lava a necessity to make your terrain fit your story or the visual you wish to create?
Yeah, you're right with lava being a little overused. Still (or maybe that's the cause?) there are many doodads that are built for lava terrains, especially for terran stations since hots. That, and the fact that this terrain is for an experimental map (so I wanted something relatively easy and fun to make), I will probably stay with it.
Thanks for the feedback though, will try to come up with something better next time :)

It is in the Tarsonis City tileset.
I take that back. I got these walls but i can't add any more to it. :( strange
I take that back and can confirm that the decor wall is in the tarsonis city tileset. Just have to get the cliffs into the interior tileset.

I have to find time to update the All Doodad project with the new content... Must share.
Working on projects:
Im sure it will not take too much time to update since Blizzard only gave us like 20 new doodads. I was expecting at least 100.
we will priobably have much more once all packs are released

There's no easy way to change the lava colour tho
